Nature’s Gift on a Hot Day! | OUR BUKO BREAK IN THE FARM! 🌴

It's summertime now in the Philippines, and so the heat index has skyrocketed again. Though in the countryside it is not as scorching hot compared to the cities, thanks to our surrounding mountains here, yet we still can't escape the sudden thirst and the feeling of a dry throat. No one is exempted, considering our country's tropical weather which will make someone feel like they're baking under the sun! 🌞
The best thing is that in the countryside, we do not need to buy artificially flavored drinks or juices, but instead we could enjoy the bounty and sweetness of Buko Juice fresh from the coconut trees! All we need is to bring that "itak" (bolo knife or machete) and attack! Haha!
On the way to the coconut trees!
So one dry, hot afternoon, together with my brother and daughter, we decided to harvest fresh buko (young coconut) to quench our thirst and freshen up. In our place, it's very easy to do this, since we have coconut trees waiting for our visit!
There were plenty of times that I craved for this drink but couldn't do anything about it because, of course, I needed someone skilled enough in climbing these towering trees! Thankfully, my brother was available at this time, and it was he who invited me to harvest because he was feeling parched too! Thanks, bro, you just don't know I have been waiting for this chance! Hehe
In local ways, it is as easy as pie to drink and eat the buko. After picking it from the trees, we simply cut the top of the fruit and sip the sweet coconut water straight from the shell! And to tell you, this is so refreshing! After the drink, we scoop out the soft, jelly-like meat using a spoon from the husk itself! In short, no need for fancy spoons, glasses, or any utensils! We just drink and eat it straight from nature's hands!🥥
Simple moments like this in the countryside remind me that happiness and satisfaction live in the little things. This also made me feel even grateful each day for how blessed we are living in the countryside, where nature itself already lays these bounties before our eyes. A bounty that's healthy and never fails to give us simple joy, in dry and drier season!🌡️😁
Burp! Oopz, my tummy's full!
