So it was my husband, mother-in-law, our two young children, and myself. My mother-in-law is not a fan of spicy food, not even the tiniest bit of spice can be in her food, aside from black pepper. Sometimes it can be a bit difficult... (But I will be honest with you!... I still put a little bit of cayenne pepper spice in the ham 😋)

Daddy had the cake ready to go in the kitchen. The rest of us gathered around our oldest daughter in preparation for 😈 The Ritual™ 😈. Then the light went out as the cake was carried in, a huge number 3 atop it, ablaze. We all began to sing Happy Birthday to Kiva while she excitedly sat on the floor, the biggest grin etched onto her face. It grew bigger and bigger as our singing continued, clapping her hands together like an ecstatic seal.

I finished this book called Love, Hate, Fear, Anger, and the Other Lively Emotions, a title that was first published in the year 1964! I always find vintage books very intriguing; it is interesting to compare how things have changed from then to now.
