It's CHRISTMAS COOKIE BAKING DAY!
For the past few years, the ladies in my world have gathered, before Christmas to bake cookies, and catch up. When My parents grew up, all of their relatives lived within two blocks, in a sort of Greek Slum, outside of Boston. Family was important.
When I grew up, all of my cousins lived within a town or two. Family matters.
Now, as my kids grow up, the cousins are spread a few dozen towns apart. Family really is important... and so, finding ways to gather and come together, to reconnect, is important.
COOKIE DAY? Or Frozen Day?
Each year, my wife picks a theme... Rudolph and the Reindeer, Abominable Snow man, etc. Last year, in green above, it was Santa's helpers.

This year, she ordered these OLAF Onesies, and the two littlest, were Elsa, from the movie Frozen.
They gather, as many cousins and aunts, and kids as can be found, and bake. Traditional Swedish baked goods, traditional American Christmas cookies, and even an occasional Greek goodie, too!
And then, there's Gingerbread time! All the supplies gathered, and time for everyone kid, and wannabe kid, to make a Gingerbread House!
My oldest, who works at The New England Aquarium, in Boston, went with what she knows best: The Sea! Reefs, schooling fish, kelp, A Lobster trap (pretzels???) and Lobsters, and of course, A Giant Ocean Green Sea Turtle or two.

Most of you know, I prefer to grow my own food, locally. It's healthier for my family, and for the planet. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking, planes, trains, and boats, to get fresh foods to my table.
And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.
