In this video, I cover my monthly analysis of spellbook purchases and game sign-ups. I've been tracking the data since November and while we've seen a slowdown in the amount of sign-ups and spellbook purchases, there is a metric that is showing a very positive sign - conversion!
Before we get into that, it's important to recognize that since January the crypto market has been in a down trend with pretty much all projects besides bitcoin tanking hard under the pressure. It doesn't matter the sector - gaming, RWA, AI - all of them have been hit hard. Even memecoin fatigue seems to be setting in as it has become rugpull after rugpull.
So in looking at spellbook purchases as a percentage of overall sign-ups, this is actually quite an encouraging sign. The main takeaway is that of the people who are signing up to check out the game, more of them are choosing to fork over the $10 to start earning. What's been great is that this is coming in at a time when the team has focused more on providing a solid F2P experience which is definitely playing into this.
So as we look ahead to when the markets turn or when the team decides to do some promotion of the game - or both ideally - the good news is that the experience that new players are now having is converting more of them to actually dive a bit deeper into the world of Splinterlands!
