No, that's not an image of Jesus nor is it @pharesim.
I went to watch Project Hail Mary yesterday and boy am I glad I did. Honestly, there wasn't anything I could complain about.
Now it's been a few years since I've read the book, but maybe that made it better as I kept getting surprised at times of a few twists here and there that I had forgotten about which made for a more exciting movie. I imagine those who haven't read the book may find those twists even more surprising.
I'm not much for a reviewer, but I felt like they compressed most of the important parts of the book rather well in it. It was however 2.5h long, which I thought I wouldn't mind but the thoughts crept to my head towards the end where I assured my fiancé that there's not much left.
It's quite a well written story however, the sci-fi makes sense for the most part, you can kind of tell some details they added in early just to make the ending make sense, etc. Very well written and well depicted in the movie.
The characters, honestly, I think the side character stole the show. Ryan's performance was great as usual and I think he did Grace justice.
I think I'm running out of words without getting into spoilers, either way, watch it. I checked rotten tomatoes reviews after arriving back home last night and was pleasently surprised:

Anyway, now I'm back to doing some hive things like voting up reddit shares, etc.
I noticed there's a new Valorant champion as a new season begins, played a few rounds and am now writing this post as there's news in the background about how Maga is faltering.
I'm planning on adding some more info to the World Bible of the @holozing story using Claude to refine the rules and logic of that universe before I get deeper into writing the story of the main character which is yet to be named but claude picked the name of Kael. I'm guessing from Supermans original name on the planet Krypton. Not sure why but I'm going with it for now. Hail Kael!
As for the story, I think it's going to take quite some time to write out properly, and with many, many rewrites after hopefully with some help from better people and/or AI. I want it to have a mix of anime/japanese culture as well as western. I want it to have depth while at the same time being a bit funny and odd. I want the characters to be the usual underdogs while at the same time the world to remain realistic and harsh. I have a cool backstory for the main character but not really a good reason as to what makes him special or why him. Maybe a why isn't always needed? not sure, will have to think some more about that or come up with something later.
The concept is set out in the future so there's room for events/history having transpired so it gives us a couple decades of leeway to come up with sci-fi'ish reasons as to what may or may not have occurred.
I'm excited to share that here on Hive for free whenever it's ready but also to maybe package it into a book and see if we can find some interested artists wanting to manga/webtoon/anime-fy it.
Either way, going to be taking @howo up on his recommendation yesterday and checking out the other Andy Weir books.
Thanks for reading! Are you going to watch the movie?
