Hi Actifitters,
after some initial uncertainty about whether my amateurish repaired gearshift would even allow for effective training, and a few minor adjustments, I was actually able to train well.
In fact, I even set a new record – covering 40 kilometers in just under an hour. Setting a new record here was a side challenge I had set for myself.
My Garmin Enduro 3 had a base session planned for me. I was supposed to pedal at 145 watts for one hour and 23 minutes. Once I had achieved the 40-kilometer record, I wanted to maintain the pace to also break the 50-kilometer mark within the given time. And I succeeded.
Here are a few more details about yesterday's smart trainer session:
Duration - 1:23:02
Distance - 51.40 km
Average speed - 37.1 km/h
Maximum speed - 46.5 km/h
Average power output - 145 watts
Maximum power output - 156 watts
Average heart rate - 149 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 172 bpm
Average cadence - 101
Maximum cadence - 125
Overall, the session was quite strenuous, as I trained with a high heart rate for a long time. Interestingly, though, the muscle soreness in my calves didn't bother me at all. Once the muscles are warmed up, muscle soreness isn't really an issue anymore.
Today's plan is a more relaxed bike ride. I'll be pedaling for one hour and 18 minutes at 125 watts. More on that tomorrow.
