I started by cutting a piece from a larger strip of wood. I cut it with a saw, trying to make the square approximately 3 centimeters on each side. Then, I drew a circle on each side using a pencil. To shape the wood, I'll use only a utility knife.
Comencé cortando una pieza de un listón más grande de madera, lo corte con una cierra tratando de que el cuadrado midiera 3 centímetros por cada lado aproximadamente. Después en cada una de sus caras dibujé un círculo utilizando un lápiz, para darle forma la madera utilizaré únicamente un cúter de papelería.

I start making the cuts at the edges, removing the excess parts on the sides where I drew the circle. As I remove each of these parts, the process becomes a little easier because it depends on patience and concentration to achieve a perfect circle. At first, you can see the irregular shape of the piece, but it's clear where to cut to make the circle.
Los cortes los comienzo a hacer por los bordes. quitando las partes que sobran en las caras donde dibujé el círculo. Al quitar cada una de estas partes el proceso se vuelve un poco más fácil porque ya depende de la paciencia y concentración para que el círculo salga perfecto. En primera instancia se logra ver la forma irregular de la pieza, pero queda claro por donde hay que ir cortando para hacer el círculo.

Next, I use another cutter, this time one with a thinner blade, as it's difficult to round the piece because the larger cutter can't fit snugly against the surface. A slightly narrower blade helps a lot. I now have the initial circular shape. From now on, I'll use sandpaper to smooth out any irregularities and give it a more spherical shape.
Seguidamente utilizo otra cúter, esta vez uno que tenga la hojilla más fina, ya que es difícil redondear la pieza porque el cúter mas grande no logra acoplarse a la pieza por lo que una hojilla un poco menos ancha ayuda muchísimo. Ya obtengo la primera forma del círculo, de aquí en adelante utilizando la lija voy a pulir toda la pieza de irregularidades y también darle una forma más de esfera.

I use three different types of sandpaper to complete the cleaning process. With the coarsest sandpaper, I remove all traces of cutting, revealing a little more of the sphere's body. With the medium sandpaper, I simply smooth the wood a little and make the areas where a better rounding is more visible. Finally, with the coarsest sandpaper, I begin cleaning the entire sphere until I'm sure it's perfectly rounded.
Utilizo 3 tipos diferentes de lijas para poder completar el proceso de limpieza, con la lija mas gruesa de toda voy quitando todo rastro de corte y así va apareciendo un poco más el cuerpo de la esfera. Con la lija intermedia no hago más que suavizar un poco toda la madera y que sea más visible aquellas parte donde haga falta redondear mejor, y por último con la lija mas suave comienzo a limpiar toda la esfera hasta asegurarme de que ha quedado bien redonda.

Now that the dial is ready, all that's left is a good coat of protective varnish. Since I'm going to paint the dial, applying varnish usually clogs the wood pores, so it's better to paint it like this since the wood doesn't absorb the paint.
Lista ya la esfera no le queda más que un buen baño de barniz protector, como voy a pintar la esfera, al echarle barniz, los poros de la madera suelen taparse, por lo que es mejor pintar así ya que la madera no absorve la pintura.

Finally, using acrylic paint, mixing yellow and red to create the orange, I paint the entire sphere, then use only red to paint the four stars. After it has dried thoroughly, I apply a final coat of varnish to protect the paint and give it a shinier appearance, and that's how it's finished.
Por último, con la pintura acrílica, mezclando amarillo y rojo para sacar el color naranja, pinto toda la esfera para luego de solo color rojo pintar las 4 estrellas. Después d eque haya secado muy bien le puse un último baño de barniz para que proteja la pintura y se vea más brillante y así quedó finalizado.
What did you think of the result? I really liked how it turned out. It definitely looks like an authentic Dragon Ball, even though the originals look like they're made of glass. Qué les ha parecido el resultado? Me gustó mucho como quedó, sin duda parece una auténtica esfera del dragón aunque las originales parecen hechas de cristal, el barniz ayudó mucho para este efecto.
