I recently broke my reading glasses and did a repair which you can read about here if you're so inclined. The repair came out ok but I'll admit it looked a bit fucken shit, so I decided to get a new pair and keep the repaired ones as a spare.
I picked up my new pair (pictured) a week or so ago and...they're different to what I'd normally buy. They're blue.
I only ever wear Oakley glasses, sunglasses or reading, so I went straight to that display at the optometrist and picked out a pair that I liked. The general consensus (my girlfriend and the lady in the shop I've known for years) was, "those look fucken shit on you." They didn't say it quite like that of course.
Ok, I can take a hint.
I grabbed these blue ones next and put them on liking them instantly. I turned around to the girls expecting a tirade of ridicule and abuse and...they liked them. A lot. (This probably has a lot to do with the blue contrast against my delectable mocha-coloured complexion and how the blue brought out the devilish mischief in my eyes.)
After a week or so they came in with my prescription lenses made and fitted and I've been wearing them for over a week now.
These blue reading glasses are quite different to what I'd normally wear - black wrap-around Oakley's or grey/black Oakley reading glasses - but I thought the blue would be a nice change and I'm really liking them...and accepting thousands of compliments.
Hundreds.
Well, a hundred at least.
Sort of like forty to fifty really.
More like under ten.
Let's just call it three.
Seriously though, loads of people have noticed the change and have been complimentary which is nice, even though the only opinion that matters is my own and my girlfriend's.
Do you wear glasses as well? Do you get help picking them out or trust your own opinion? Have you ever selected a pair you then came to hate? I have. Comment below if you'd like to.
