This is the time of the year when Malaga changes completely, both day and night, but even more so when at 18:30 hs all the lights are switched on in the city, the Christmas lights and the show begins.
It is always a big event when the Christmas lights are switched on and long before that some shops decorate their premises and all this is visible from the outside during the night. Trees, lights, stars, angels, gift boxes and many more decorations that are dormant during the day come alive with lights at night.

I planned to go out in search of the decorative lights in the city centre, but the centre is too big, so I walked a long way and didn't finish walking around.

A few days ago I heard in the news that the decorations had changed after years where the famous angels reigned and I wanted to know what it was all about. The next day I walked down Calle Larios, the famous street where the Christmas lights are switched on and the lights show, and I could indeed see that the derogation was different, new and original.
What stands out, above all, are the centres where the garlands are joined together, forming circles that form stained glass windows with different Christmas motifs, as if it were a Christmas story, each one different and you can see the baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary and Joseph in many of them, but there are also many other motifs, even the Three Wise Men are present.
I went there the day before the show where it all starts, and they were testing the lights and sound. It was spectacular to be underneath watching it all, with very few people, because right now the amount of tourism is overwhelming.

The streets were also decorated with new and original motifs, many of them with stained glass, angels, lamps and other types of lights forming different designs.
The balconies of houses, buildings and even shops are decorated with lights and characters.
The shop windows of the different shops are full of lights, Christmas trees, coloured balls, but above all lights, the city shines everywhere.

The historic centre is the most illuminated, but also the streets of the rest of the city are illuminated, I could not walk through them all, but I could see that everything has changed and that renews the city.
Inside the historic centre I found a very special place, I think it is part of a hotel, but I had never noticed that narrow corridor. There is too much I still don't know, I think. And the decoration of that place was my favourite, pink flowers and butterflies full of lights. Those who know me know that my favourite colour is pink and I love butterflies. The rest of the city may be dressed up, but that corner was my favourite. There were a lot of people there taking pictures and I almost couldn't take mine, but I made it.

After a long walk, I managed to reach the main avenue Alameda, where the light decorations were also new and my eyes were not enough to see so much splendour, everything was decorated and there were trees everywhere, stars too. I still had a lot to see, such as nativity scenes, street markets, the promenade.
I turned around and went back to the Plaza Constitución where I enjoyed the light show, but that is another chapter I will bring you soon.
