Tenía bastante tiempo queriendo ver una serie coreana y entre tantas que hay no sabía cuál escoger hasta que vi una que me salio como recomendación y que me llamó la atención por su nombre: El Precio de una Confesión en español. Las series coreanas suelen tocar temas interesantes y a la vez sensibles, donde muestran realidades que poco se ven en las series de los últimos tiempos, me gusta el género del drama y el misterio con suspenso, esta serie tiene ambas y conocía a las actrices principales quienes son excelentes al momento de actuar así que pensé que sería una apuesta segura ver esta serie y quedé muy impresionada.

I had been wanting to watch a Korean series for quite some time, and with so many to choose from, I didn't know which one to pick until I saw one that came up as a recommendation and caught my attention because of its name: El Precio de una Confesión (The Price of Confession) in English. Korean series tend to tackle interesting and sensitive topics, showing realities that are rarely seen in recent series. I like the drama and mystery genres with suspense, and this series has both. I was familiar with the main actresses, who are excellent performers, so I thought it would be a safe bet to watch this series, and I was very impressed.
La trama de la serie sigue la historia de una mujer llamada An Yun-su (Jeon Do-yeon) quién un día va a visitar a su esposo en el lugar donde siempre pintaba sus obras y lo encuentra gravemente herido por lo que no le queda más que llamar a la ambulancia para poder salvar su vida. Tristemente el esposo muere por la gravedad de las heridas y An Yun-su queda como la principal sospechosa del crimen, todo apunta a que ella claramente mató a su esposo y que es quien está intentado ocultar la verdad de el asesinato, pero ella es inocente aunque no tiene como demostrarlo. Cuando es enviada a la cárcel conoce a una reclusa que le ofrece un trato bastante extraño y que le daría la oportunidad de salir en libertad con tal de poder estar con su pequeña hija y poder borrar las crueles críticas y rechazo social que hay hacia ella producto del asesinato. ¿Estarias dispuesto a cometer otro crimen para así poder ser libre y vivir con el peso de haber asesinado a alguien, pero con la calma de estar en libertad aunque eso cueste la vida de alguien presuntamente inocente?
The plot of the series follows the story of a woman named An Yun-su (Jeon Do-yeon) who one day goes to visit her husband at the place where he always painted his works and finds him seriously injured, leaving her with no choice but to call an ambulance to save his life. Sadly, her husband dies from his injuries and An Yun-su becomes the prime suspect in the crime. Everything points to her clearly killing her husband and trying to hide the truth about the murder, but she is innocent, although she has no way of proving it. When she is sent to prison, she meets an inmate who offers her a rather strange deal that would give her the opportunity to be released so that she can be with her young daughter and erase the cruel criticism and social rejection she faces as a result of the murder. Would you be willing to commit another crime in order to be free and live with the burden of having killed someone, but with the peace of mind of being free, even if it costs the life of someone who is presumably innocent?
Esta serie fue estrenada en Netflix y cuenta con 12 episodios de 50 minutos de duración, la historia está bastante bien desarrollada y lo que me dejó impactada es que se piensa quien es el verdadero asesino, de cualquiera menos de quien fue el que lo cometió. Es una serie con mucho drama, muchas escenas de acción y sangre, mucho suspenso y con dos actrices increíbles que hacen un excelente trabajo para que la historia sea creíble al nivel de llegar a ponerte nervioso y hasta sentirte mal por el destino de ambas mujeres.
Claramente el tema principal es el asesinato pero también veremos el perfil psicológico de Mo-eun (Kim Go-eun) quien es la reclusa que conoce An Yun-su en la cárcel, está mujer está ciertamente mal de la cabeza a un nivel en el que la consideran una psicópata sin ningún tipo de sentimientos o remordimientos sobre los crímenes que ha cometido. Aunque puede verse como una mujer dañada que solo busca causar daño, con el paso de los episodios conocemos más el trasfondo de su historia de vida y del trauma que vivió por culpa de una persona que ella detesta y que se encuentra libre y con vida, es una mujer con altos deseo de venganza.
This series premiered on Netflix and has 12 episodes lasting 50 minutes each. The story is quite well developed, and what struck me is that you think you know who the real killer is, anyone but the person who actually committed the crime. It is a series with a lot of drama, many action scenes and blood, a lot of suspense, and two incredible actresses who do an excellent job of making the story believable to the point of making you nervous and even feel bad about the fate of both women.
Clearly, the main theme is murder, but we also see the psychological profile of Mo-eun (Kim Go-eun), the inmate An Yun-su meets in prison. This woman is certainly mentally ill to the point that she is considered a psychopath with no feelings or remorse for the crimes she has committed. Although she may be seen as a damaged woman who only seeks to cause harm, as the episodes progress, we learn more about the background of her life story and the trauma she experienced because of a person she detests and who is free and alive. She is a woman with a strong desire for revenge.
El tema del trato entre las dos mujeres es algo que hace que la historia cobre acción y que te mantengas pendiente de lo que puede suceder, para An Yun-su es insoportable el hecho de tener que aceptar un trato de una presidiaria pero es su única oportunidad de poder volver con su hija y tener una "vida normal", pero el trato es tan cruel que ella no sabe si es capaz de matar solo por obtener su libertad, mientras está siendo vigilada por policías, fiscales y abogados lo que hace que la situación se vuelva complicada y que todo se lleve a cabo de manera cuidadosa para no levantar sospechas entre las personas que desean su libertad y quienes no quieren que la verdad se sepa.
Es un drama que se ve rapidísimo porque te engancha la historia de inmediato, los actores hacen un papel increíble y la manera en que es contada la historia hace que sea una de las mejores series coreanas de Netflix. Desde el primer episodio hay tensión, miedo y muchos secretos que hay que ir descubriendo además de que al llegar al final puedes quedar devastado y completamente triste al ver cómo termina, que no es de una mala manera pero si es sorprendentemente inesperado el final, lo que hace que se cierre la serie de una manera inimaginable. Me encanto y espero que puedan verla 🖤
The deal between the two women is something that drives the story forward and keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what might happen next. For An Yun-su, having to accept a deal from a convict is unbearable, but it is her only chance to return to her daughter and have a 'normal life'. However, the deal is so cruel that she does not know if she is capable of killing just to gain her freedom. She is being watched by police officers, prosecutors, and lawyers, which complicates the situation and means that everything must be carried out carefully so as not to arouse suspicion among those who want her freedom and those who do not want the truth to come out.
It's a drama that you can watch very quickly because the story hooks you immediately, the actors give incredible performances, and the way the story is told makes it one of the best Korean series on Netflix. From the first episode, there is tension, fear, and many secrets to be uncovered. By the time you reach the end, you may be devastated and completely saddened by how it ends, which is not in a bad way, but the ending is surprisingly unexpected, bringing the series to a close in an unimaginable way. I loved it and hope you get to see it.
