Today I returned once again to the application that gives me a prompt with an idea to draw. When I opened it I found this prompt, and it was the inspiration for today’s drawing: A friendly monster made of junk food dancing disco under a rain of confetti. The first thing I did was imagine it in my mind as well as picture the color palette I would use. Nothing says junk food more than the colors yellow and red. For the monster I didn’t want to follow the idea literally of being made of junk food, but instead I represented the mascot of a junk food company. With all this in mind I opened Ibis Paint and little by little began sketching a monster, trying to make it as adorable as possible.
Hoy volví de nuevo a la aplicación que me da un prompt con una idea para dibujar. Al abrirla encontré este prompt y fue la inspiración para el dibujo de hoy: Un monstruo amigable hecho de comida chatarra bailando disco bajo una lluvia de confeti. Lo primero que hice fue imaginármelo en mi mente así como imaginar la paleta de colores que usaría. No hay nada que diga más comida chatarra que los colores amarillo y rojo. Para el monstruo no quise seguir literal la idea de hecho de comida chatarra, sino que representé la mascota de una compañía de comida chatarra. Con todo esto en mente abrí Ibis Paint y me puse a trazar poco a poco un boceto de un monstruo, tratando que fuera lo más adorable posible.
This was my first idea: the monster dancing with a big smile, its horns and its long, hairy legs. It also has horns on its head, and for a hat it wears a hamburger. In the large pocket of its pants it keeps its fries and milkshake for when it gets tired of dancing. I really liked this sketch, so there will be no big changes to my small and adorable junk food–loving little monster.
Esta fue mi primera idea: el monstruo bailando sonriente con sus cuernos y sus patas largas y peludas. Además, tiene cuernos en la cabeza, por sombrero usa una hamburguesa y en el gran bolsillo de su pantalón lleva guardadas sus papas fritas y su malteada para cuando se canse de bailar. Me gustó mucho este boceto, así que no habrá más ningún cambio grande en mi pequeño y adorable monstruito amante de la comida chatarra.
I started the line art with the hamburger, I added cheese, lettuce, and a sausage, then its horns and its head. I am using the default pen brush without opacity in Ibis Paint.
Comencé a hacer el line art por la hamburguesa, le puse queso, lechuga y una salchicha, después sus cuernos y su cabeza. Estoy usando el pincel de pluma sin opacidad por defecto de Ibis Paint.
Now we continue with one of its arms, in a typical dance pose, and with the food it keeps in its big pocket. It was simple for me to draw the fries with just lines, and even so I loved doing it.
Ahora continuamos con uno de sus brazos, típica pose de baile, y con la comida que guarda en su gran bolsillo. Fue muy simple dibujar las papas fritas solo con líneas y aun así me encantó hacerlo.
This is how all my line art turned out. Underneath you can still see the sketch layer, so the next step will be precisely to clean that layer since we don’t need it anymore.
Así quedó todo mi line art hecho. Debajo se puede ver la capa del boceto, así que el siguiente paso será precisamente limpiar esa capa ya que no la necesitamos más.

With my palette in mind I began to color my entire drawing. I made the background bubblegum pink because I really liked how it combined, and the monster, as I had said, in red and yellow — with red as the predominant color and yellow for the details such as the claws and the horns. I also added a bit of green to the lettuce.
Con mi paleta en mente comencé a colorear todo mi dibujo. Hice el fondo rosa chicle porque me gustaba mucho cómo combinaba, y el monstruo, como había dicho, con rojo y amarillo, siendo el rojo el color predominante y el amarillo para los detalles como las garras y los cuernos. Además, agregué un poco de verde en la lechuga.
The next layer of colors was for the darker shadows. With the occlusion shadows I tried to create an atmosphere with a bit of light and shade, but overall my drawing will be quite flat, in a 2D cartoon style.
La siguiente capa de colores fue para las sombras más oscuras. Con las sombras de oclusión traté de crear un ambiente con un poco de luces y sombras, pero en la mayoría mi dibujo será un dibujo bastante plano, estilo cartoon 2D.
Then I added details such as some other shadows and the texture of the fur. As you can see in my drawing, the lines with soft curves predominate so that it looks more kawaii.
Seguido di detalles como algunas otras sombras y la textura del pelaje. Como ven, en mi dibujo predominan las líneas con curvas suaves para que se vea más kawaii.
I added some highlights in white to emphasize the brightness of the atmosphere.
Añadí algunas luces altas en color blanco para resaltar el brillo del ambiente.
Now it’s time to add the confetti. For that I will make small shapes scattered over the character, trying to vary their forms by making little circles, triangles, squares, and stars. This confetti will be in many colors, using each of the colors I used in my drawing so that it integrates well into the composition and doesn’t feel random. And that’s it! I loved today’s prompt and enjoyed drawing this little monster. It was a fairly quick drawing, but I think I fulfilled the prompt perfectly. Thank you for joining me one more day of drawing!
Ahora sí, solo queda añadir el confeti. Para eso haré formas pequeñas esparcidas por encima del personaje, trato de variar sus formas haciendo pequeños círculos, triángulos, cuadrados y estrellas. Este confeti lo haré de muchos colores utilizando cada uno de los colores que usé en mi dibujo para que se integre bien a la composición y no sean colores al azar. ¡Y listo! Me encantó el prompt de hoy y disfruté dibujar este pequeño monstruito. Fue un dibujo bastante rápido, pero creo que cumplí con creces el prompt. Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
