There’s an old saying when it comes to PC gaming, and that is PC is the Master Race. That is right. PC gamers are the master race that will inherit the earth! Alright, I know I’m sounding like a follower of a certain fellow that looked like Charlie Chaplin, but in my opinion pc gaming is the best way to game. But there is something about it that just completely sucks.
My PC gaming adventure started a few months after I came to Hive. Thanks to this wonderful website, I was able to start upgrading my old Alienware PC before building one from scratch. Since those days, a few years ago, PC gaming has been my go-to. My poor old consoles sit in a corner just collecting dust. Only being turned on when I have a hankering to play an exclusive like Fable, Infamous, etc.

It offers a lot more freedom to do things with your games, there’s no pesky membership fee to play online, and a lot of games are better with a keyboard and mouse. However, there is one big downside to PC gaming that consoles don’t have, and that is all our products are digital.
But I’ve talked many times about the dangers of digital media, but this isn’t a post discussing that issue. But rather the problem that there is no market for physical PC games. Meaning if you wanted to buy a game, you are going to be dishing out a pretty penny for it.
I ran into this issue recently when I decided I wanted to complete my Call of Duty collection on Steam. My jaw dropped when I saw Black Ops, and almost every other COD game being sold for what they were at launch, despite some being over a decade old.

No Man’s Sky, a game that came out in 2018, still sells for $77 CAD on Steam. The Halo Master Chief collection sells at $50, and so on and so forth; there are many examples of this.
The only place that you would be able to score the games for cheaper, would be from key resellers that sites like CDkeys.com, and G2Aplay.net host. But there is a danger to that as sometimes the keys you get don’t work, or have already been used.

A few weeks ago I bought Mad Max, on Steam it was $30, on CDkeys I paid $3.00 for it. The fact is that sites like these are the closest thing to a second hand market that pc gamers have.
Even still sometimes there just isn’t any keys for sale for the game you’re looking for. That’s what happened with me when it came to COD. Luckily Steam’s Black Friday sale hit that saw a bunch of games being heavily discounted so I was able to pick up most of what I needed from that.

I would honestly love to see physical media for PC Gaming make a comeback but I know that isn’t going to happen. Despite being the Master Race this is one thing us PC Gamers have to take the L on. At least console “peseants” don’t have to pay full price for a decade old game, assuming they buy a physical copy of the game, and not a digital one.
