Then I was carried away photographing new buildings in the Southern microdistrict, which is located between the former villages of Chetryakovo and Okhmyltsevo. Ten years ago, there was a field and private houses here, but now it's a megacity with infrastructure.
But the construction is still underway and the fields are still free, which means I need to capture this for history.
This deadpan frequency is interesting – you just want to photograph something documentary.
Well, the style is just documentary, that's why the thoughts are like that!
I'm not sure if it was deadpan everywhere, but I didn't try very hard.
In general, in my opinion, I stayed within the style in two or three pictures. I am very strict and biased towards myself.
In my mind, deadpan is a little different, but I still can't come to the purity of the style.
It is clear that all genres of photography have no clear boundaries.
If you go into the description of deadpan, then I kind of fit into the frame – no emotions were conveyed, movements, chips, angles, techniques...purely documentary dry views.
And it is impossible to photograph all the objects directly "like on a passport".
The world of deadpan has its own goals and meanings, the world is seen from a completely different angle.
What a multifaceted, multi-layered, multi-frequency photograph...
In this world, you want to capture not for the sake of style, but something important, necessary within the framework of style.
To take examples then: when I'm on the frequency of the deadpan style, I want to photograph new buildings, vacant lots where new houses will appear, dilapidated and receding into the past.
We have a lot of murals in the city – more than a hundred facades of apartment buildings are painted with various graffiti. And this must also be captured!
It can be a whole project that will go down in history later.
But how do you capture something like graffiti murals?
That's what all kinds of styles and genres are for. You can film how they draw in the reportage, using some angles, techniques, and tricks.
Or you can do it in deadpan style: straight, dry, always during the day (or always at night, so as not to get out of style), all the pictures at a similar time of day (year, weather).
I would shoot on cloudy winter days. I'll explain.
In winter, there are no foliage and the painting on the facade of the building does not close.
Overcastness gives diffused light, and grayness will add even more color to the picture and highlight it.
Murals need to be shot using general plans to show houses and surroundings.
Large-scale is also possible, but this is a different direction.
Well, new buildings are such a one–time action.
There aren't many of them to create a project....I just took pictures of what newly built areas and places where houses will still grow look like.
