The winter season is currently in its most severe form in our area and the cold is so severe that our hands and blood are freezing. When the winter season is severe, we try to collect as much wood as possible and use it as firewood. If we do not collect much wood, then we will not get dry wood to burn in the winter season. For this, we start collecting wood three or four months in advance. Because it becomes very difficult to find dry wood in the places where wood is sold during the winter season. That is why the fresh wood does not burn. Now the winter is severe. We are now burning the wood that we had collected. You see that I am sitting by the fire and this is the place where we light a fire in the winter season and then this fire heats the entire room. The heat and warmth of this fire warms the entire room and thus the intensity of the cold decreases.
The one you see in which the wood is burning is made of iron and the iron barrel is going on top. We burn the wood in this iron box and close it from the top. Then the whole room gets warm from the heat of the iron. The pipe going on top, smoke comes out from this pipe and the smoke does not enter the room and in this way the room is also protected from smoke. And the room gets completely warm from this iron barrel and it seems as if dozens of heaters are installed in the room, so the whole room also gets warm from its heat. Children, adults and people of all ages spend time in this room. Even at night, I sleep in this same room because the winters are severe and it seems as if everything has frozen like ice. The water has become extremely cold and the wind is extremely cold. Whenever we go out, we wear coats, jerseys and hats on our heads. There are winter holidays in school for a few days now, but I hear that school is closed on Monday. Schools are reopening, but all parents are requesting the government that the winters are severe and considering this severity, the school holidays should be extended by another week. This was a beautiful sight that we spend in the winter season and this is the heater that we burn with wood and then this iron heats the room completely.
A couple of months ago, I had shared some pictures and also written an article about what I did with my students to buy firewood from the forest because I knew that when winter comes, the need for firewood will be the greatest, so I bought some firewood from there at that time. At that time, people also cut down the forest, collect more firewood, and the demand for firewood increases a lot. People who buy firewood in the summer season do not keep it. And then when winter starts and they realize that they had to buy firewood for the winter, they face a lot of difficulty because everyone is near piles of firewood and everyone wants to get firewood, but the prices of firewood start to skyrocket, and the firewood that was being sold at Rs. 600 per maund before the onset of winter, reaches Rs. 100 per maund in winter, thus the prices of firewood increase 500 times. And then there is also a problem that the wood is not even dried, but freshly cut, and since it contains water, it is very difficult to burn. Collecting dry wood in this way in winter is a great feat, and the person who brings dry wood home in winter is considered to have won a battle. Thus, wood is used a lot in winter because it is a means of keeping the body and oneself warm and protecting oneself from the cold.
So it has been two days and I have not been able to write any article because it is very cold and then the problem of light is also more here in winters, the speed of the internet is also very low and thus sometimes diseases attack more in winters. So when winter starts in our area and there is no rain, a lot of fog is created. Due to the presence of pollution and fog in the air, it becomes difficult to breathe and children start suffering from coughs, colds and other diseases. So I pray that this once in a century season passes very peacefully and well and everyone remains healthy. Right now there are three or four days of holidays in school but schools are opening again on Monday and it seems that schools will be closed again in this severe cold but let's see what happens now but our plan is that if schools open on Monday then I will go to school on foot and bicycle because going to school on a motorcycle is very difficult because this freezing cold will cause me a lot of harm.
