Three Steps To Acheiving A More Sustainable Planet

By @yechee2/25/2026hive-197685

Over the years, we have experienced an increased rate of climate change, and there have been growing reports about our planet taking a downward turn in terms of safety. What this means is that if we do not pay attention to our environment and care for it properly in the coming years, we will have a future that feels unsafe, unstable, and far less convenient for generations to come.

So, it is pertinent that we come together to build eco-friendly practices that will help keep our environment safe and healthy to live in.

I believe these three tips below can serve as simple steps we can all take towards a more sustainable future.

1. Keep The Environment Clean. Always.

It is no news that a clean environment enables its inhabitants to live healthier lives, free from many sicknesses, diseases, and some common accidents. When our surroundings are clean and well maintained, we experience less contamination in our food, cleaner sources of water, and less environmental pollution. We also breathe better air, and even the safe roads we walk on helps prevent avoidable accidents. We can all contribute our quota by disposing our waste properly, mobilizing schools and offices in various communities to engage in monthly sanitations and ensuring that our drainage systems work properly.

2. Save More Energy

We consume energy in almost everything we do, from ironing and cooking to powering our homes and transporting ourselves from place to place. All of these requires a high level of energy consumption, which is one of the leading causes of climate change. So, instead of always using a dryer at home, we can sun-dry our clothes, explore alternative sources or energy like solar power where possible and use public transport for daily movements or carpool when travelling longer distances. Even better, consider cycling or walking to your destination when the distance is short. All these actions helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are major drivers of climate change.

3. Repair and Recycle Used Items

In a world that has become prone to wastage, we often do not realize how much the items we discard loosely affects our environment. In our offices, we use many electronic devices. In our homes, plastics are everywhere, and of course, we all wear clothes. Producing these items requires a significant amount of energy, and to keep our environment safer from the gas expelled in the air, it is advisable to buy only what you truly need, repurpose your clothes instead of throwing them away, repair electronics when possible, and recycle used items, especially plastics. If you are unsure how to recycle these items, you can give them to organizations that specialize in recycling. Doing all these can help reduce our carbon footprint, which often increases with mass production.

While we do all of this, it is equally important to speak up, advocate for sustainable living, as well as encourage our neighbors, colleagues, and friends to play their part as well. Remember, collective action is what truly drives change. So, by working together to adopt eco friendly habits, we can reduce the effects of climate change now and in the future, because the world relies on us to protect it and ultimately, to protect ourselves.
