Looking for something to watch on the weekend, I found a South Korean movie that I had heard of, but it didn't really catch my attention, until I saw that it had the participation of Ju Ji-hoon, an actor that I have loved the way he plays characters since I saw the k-drama The Trauma Code, a series for which he also won an award. I was really surprised by the story and I ended up liking it, of course there were some details, but here I will tell you all my impressions of it.
Released in 2023 at the Cannes Film Festival and in 2024 in South Korea, the director was Kim Tae-gon and the production company Blaad Studio, bringing us a thriller, drama and mystery. It featured the participation of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, famous for his leading role in Parasite (I didn't remember who he was until I saw the file), as well as the participation of Ju Ji-hoon and Kim Hee-won.
Cha Jeong-won, a man who is not only a presidential aide but also a father, is on his way to the airport when a thick fog (and one person's recklessness) causes a domino accident, trapping everyone on the bridge.
Soon, this climatic inconvenience will be the cause of the release of some dogs, but they are not common animals, apparently a project that should be kept silent will be revealed, causing all the lives present there to be in danger. Will Jeong-won and his daughter be able to get out alive? What will these dogs be? What secrets will await our protagonist?
At the beginning I must admit that I found it boring, and then when all this stuff about intelligent and murderous dogs started, the action got more intense. What I liked the most about this movie was the theme it deals with, because these dogs really started to be a threat because of the human, not to go into context and not to give spoilers, it's like those pitbulls that have killed, but really have been because of the owners, something like that.
I know that many will refute that these dogs are killers, that they are difficult dogs to dominate and not everyone should have them, they have to be trained and treated with love, a being that is raised in cruelty and abuse, teaching him to be a killing machine, will obviously take these measures. Once, together with my neighbor, we rescued a pitbull and chow chow mongrel dog, she was abandoned with her newborn babies, the dog was aggressive and to be able to catch her, she had to be sedated (something that was not good because she was breastfeeding), in the end, we managed to protect her and her babies.
At the beginning, we had to approach him where he sleeps, enclosing him in another space, at the point of bait, because we could not, it was really scary, but my neighbor, little by little and at the point of chicken, lowered his temper, until he became a loving dog, he let us get close to his babies, even stroking his little head. That taught us that animals act depending on how we treat them.
However, what I didn't like about the film, besides the bad CGI of the dogs, is the lack of depth of the characters and the fact that it mixed too many elements for the whole plot, it just didn't fit. The film had potential and, in spite of everything, I still think it's good, I don't know, it has something, maybe the subject it handles also makes it attractive.
There is no denying that the movie is entertaining and somehow manages to keep you hooked, but really, if they had put more care in the special effects and in the development of the plot, it would have reached another level, added to the fact that they cut minutes and, I guess because they rushed it, they made the story lose focus, I don't know, maybe. It's not a bad thing to see it and give your opinion about it.

Buscando que ver un fin de semana, encuentro una película surcoreana que la había escuchado, pero realmente no me llamaba la atención, hasta que vi que contaba con la participación de Ju Ji-hoon, actor que me ha encantado su forma de interpretar a los personajes desde que vi el k-drama The Trauma Code, serie por la que también logró obtener un premio. Realmente me sorprendió mucho la historia y me termino gustando, claro ciertos detalles, pero aquí les contaré todas mis impresiones hacia la misma.
Estrenado para el año 2023 en el festival de Cannes y en el 2024 en Corea del Sur, el director fue Kim Tae-gon y la productora Blaad Studio, nos traen una thriller, drama y misterio. Contó con la participación del difunto actor Lee Sun-kyun, famoso por su papel protagónico en Parasite (no recordaba quién era, hasta que vi la ficha), también de la participaciones de Ju Ji-hoon y Kim Hee-won.
Cha Jeong-won, es hombre que además de ser un asistente presidencial, también es padre y, mientras se encontraba en camino al aeropuerto, una espesa niebla (además de la imprudencia de una persona) provoca un accidente en dominó, lo que hacen que todos los que se encuentre en este puente queden atrapados.
Pronto, este inconveniente climático será el causante de la liberación de unos perros, pero, no son animales comunes, al parecer un proyecto que debía mantenerse en silencio, será revelado, provocando que todas las vidas ahí presentes corran peligro. ¿Será capaz Jeong-won y su hija salir vivos? ¿Qué serán esos perros? ¿Qué secretos son los que le esperará a nuestro protagonista?
Al inicio debo admitir que me pareció aburrida, ya luego cuando comenzó todo este rollo de unos perros inteligentes y asesinos, pues ya como que la acción se intensificaba más. Lo que más me gustó de esta película fue el tema que aborda, porque estos perros realmente empezaron a ser una amenaza a causa del humano, para no entrar tanto en contexto y no dar spoiler, es como aquellos pitbulls que han asesinado, pero realmente han sido a causa de los dueños, algo así.
Se que muchos refutarán que esos perros si son asesinos, que esto que lo otro, si son perros difíciles de dominar y no cualquiera debería tenerlo, tienen que entrenarse y tratarlos con amor, un ser que se crie en la crueldad y el maltrato, enseñándolo a ser una maquina asesina, pues obviamente tomara esas medidas. Una vez, junto a mi vecina, rescatamos una perrita mestiza de pitbull con chow chow, la abandonaron con sus hijitos recién nacidos, la perra era agresiva y para poder agarrarla, se tuvo que sedar (algo que no era bueno por estar amamantando), en fin, se logró resguardar a ella y sus bebes.
Al principio, teníamos que acércanos a su lugar donde duerme, encerrándolo en otro espacio, a punta de carnada, porque no podíamos, de verdad daba miedo, pero mi vecina, poco a poco y a punta de pollo, le bajo ese mal genio, hasta que se convirtió en una perrita amorosa, nos dejaba acercarnos a sus bebes, hasta le acariciaba su cabecita. Eso nos enseñó que los animales actuaran dependiendo del trato que le demos.
Ahora bien (me desvié mucho de la película) lo que no me gustó del filme además del mal CGI de los perros, es la falta de profundidad de los personajes y que mezclaba como muchos elementos para toda la trama que nos da, como que no cuadraba. La película tenia potencial y, a pesar de todo me sigue pareciendo buena, no sé tiene como algo, quizás el tema que maneja también lo hace atractivo.

La película no se puede negar que es entretenida y de algún logra mantenerte enganchado, pero de verdad que, si les hubiesen puesto más cariñito a los efectos especiales y en el desarrollo de la trama, hubiese alcanzado otro nivel, aunado que le mandaron a cortar minutos y, supongo por apresurarse hicieron que la historia perdiera el enfoque, no sé, quizás. No está mal que la vean y den su opinión al respecto.
