Splinterlands Art Contest - [Young] Divine Healer

2024-01-28T14:06:51
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to my Art blog, I'll be participating again in the weekly art contest of Splinterlands, and for my entry this week I choose the Divine Healer in which I turn into a younger version of her.

Art Process

I started with a rough sketch using this pose reference here. I then proceeded to fill in the base colors. I wanted the light source to be on the back of her, to have a rim light effect so I added a multiply layer, filled the whole character with black, and erased the sides. I then painted the shadows of her body and also made a line because the bold lines of my rough sketch made me confused.
After painting and applying the general lights and shadows, I started rendering the details. I blurred some shadows that need a smooth transition, it is the shadow formed by the change of direction and for the cast shadow, it should have sharp edges. I also painted a hint of orange in a Hardlight blending mode on the terminators giving them beautiful warm transitions. And for the rim light, I used the airbrush and used a smudge to soften the edge of the stroke. I drew her a pendant which has a symbol of a leaf in the center since according to lore the Divine healers used medicines synthesized from plants. When I finished rendering I thought there was really something wrong with it so I tried flattening the image which merged all of the layers just learned this today XD) and adjusted using the liquefy tool and here is the result...
