Blockchain Based Gaming

Game development company Everdreamsoft utilizes CounterParty to build blockchain gaming assets, the selling point being that you own and control your asset, be it card, skin, game credits, etc. Below are two of their games:

Spells of Genesis

Spells of Genesis is an allegorical blockchain card game. Not only is the game designed using the blockchain asset creation of CounterParty, all the characters and terms are taken right out of Bitcoin history; "genesis" = genesis block, etc. The card designs are actually pretty cool. It's fun to imagine each coin's personality this way:

The economy of Spells of Genesis revolves around BitCrystals, built on CounterParty. The tokens can be traded on the open market, and used in game and in the game store.

Beyond the Void

Beyond the Void is a space-based MOBA+RTS which launches on May 3rd. The first tournament is May 19th, with 300 NXC going to the winner.

The economy is based on the Nexium (NXC) ERC20 Ethereum token. The game shop is a smart contract on Ethereum, and uses NXC for purchases.

New items can be crafted by users and added to the blockchain, and with Unite, multiple users can come together to create a part of the game. This creates a crafting economy where artists and gamers work together to push the game forward.

Because you own your asset, there's a possibility in the future of cross-gaming assets where you take your assets from one game and put them in another game...!!

I've been thinking recently about what coins out there on the exchanges have an actual product and community and are being used currently. Most of the coins are bought and sold by investors speculating on price pumps, and not by people utilizing the technology. And in the case of ICO's, often the "technology" is more of an idea... with an 8 year road map. However, blockchain based games are one of the best examples of in use blockchain technology.

Everyone thought that DigiByte would be the one of prove the case, but with GAME credits, MobileGo, 1st Blood and others, it seems that merging blockchain assets with gaming is an idea which has already taken off, and it is probably the best place to look for mass adoption of crypto-currency in the near future.
