¿Cómo están el día de hoy? Yo muy bien y muy feliz, con muchas ganas de estar otra vez por esta comunidad para contarles que hace poco me vi una película bastante extraña, la cual nunca me han recomendado, pero la terminé viendo luego de escucharla en algunos foros. La película me comenzó interesando por su animación y su tipo estética, pero sin duda alguna me voló la cabeza con todo lo que tiene por detrás y con toda la trama tan difícil de entender que puede llegar a tener. Sin más, quiero hablarles de esta película llamada Children of the Sea, Y también tratarles de explicar un poco por qué esta puede llegar a ser difícil de entender, por si no la han visto.

I am very well and very happy, looking forward to being back in this community to tell you that I recently saw a very strange movie, which has never been recommended to me, but I ended up watching it after hearing about it in some forums. The movie started interesting me because of its animation and its aesthetic type, but without a doubt it blew my mind with all that it has behind it and with all the plot so difficult to understand that it can have. Without further ado, I want to tell you about this movie called Children of the Sea, and also try to explain why it can be difficult to understand, in case you haven't seen it.

Children of the Sea relata la historia de Ruka, una joven que se siente muy sola tras un conflicto en el club deportivo y una situación familiar algo complicada. Durante las vacaciones de verano, acaba pasando gran parte de su tiempo en el acuario donde labora su padre. Ahí se encuentra con dos chicos bastante singulares, Umi y Sora, que parecen haber sido educados por dugongos y poseen una conexión muy extraña con el océano. Conforme Ruka se va relacionando con ellos, comienzan a suceder fenómenos extraños en el océano: criaturas marinas que migran de manera anómala, ballenas que entonan melodías misteriosas y una impresión de que algo monumental, casi cósmico, está por suceder.
Children of the Sea tells the story of Ruka, a young girl who feels very lonely after a conflict at the sports club and a somewhat complicated family situation. During the summer vacations, she ends up spending most of her time at the aquarium where her father works. There she meets two rather unique boys, Umi and Sora, who seem to have been raised by dugongs and possess a very strange connection to the ocean. As Ruka gets to know them, strange phenomena begin to happen in the ocean: sea creatures that migrate abnormally, whales that sing mysterious melodies and an impression that something monumental, almost cosmic, is about to happen.

La película conecta de manera excelente el desarrollo personal de Ruka con todos estos enigmas del océano y del cosmos. Umi y Sora la llevan a reflexionar sobre su posición en el mundo y la forma en que todo está interrelacionado. Su manera de ser tan singular y todos los eventos sobrenaturales que ocurren nos sugieren que existe una conexión mucho más profunda, casi legendaria, entre los seres humanos y el entorno natural. El filme aborda cuestiones como la existencia, la muerte y el ciclo continuo de todo, y lo presenta con unas impresionantes imágenes del mar que te quitan el aliento.
The film excellently connects Ruka's personal development with all these enigmas of the ocean and the cosmos. Umi and Sora lead her to reflect on her position in the world and the way everything is interrelated. Her unique way of being and all the supernatural events that occur suggest to us that there is a much deeper, almost legendary connection between humans and the natural environment. The film addresses questions of existence, death and the continuous cycle of everything, and presents it with breathtaking images of the sea that take your breath away.

Conforme progresa la narrativa, esa impresión inicial de asombro se transforma en algo más complejo y abstracto relacionado con el origen de la vida y su vínculo con el cosmos. El límite entre lo humano, lo acuático y lo celestial se va desdibujando, alcanzando un desenlace visualmente impactante que invita a la reflexión. As the narrative progresses, that initial impression of awe transforms into something more complex and abstract related to the origin of life and its link to the cosmos. The boundary between the human, the aquatic and the celestial becomes blurred, reaching a visually stunning and thought-provoking denouement. Although what specifically happens can be interpreted in different ways, the central message is clear: we are all part of a vast and united network.

Como ya dije al comienzo, esta película es un poco desconcertante. La verdad, al momento que la vi no me esperaba nada de lo que va a salir, ya que no tenía muchas opiniones previas ni había leído demasiado. Terminé de verla con una sensación bastante extraña, plagada de confusión y sin entender muy bien, pero con la certeza de que había sido una muy buena película. De esas películas que quedan contigo dándote vueltas y vueltas en la cabeza; es literalmente lo que para mí significó esta producción.
As I said at the beginning, this movie is a bit disconcerting. To tell you the truth, at the moment I saw it I didn't expect anything of what is going to come out, since I didn't have many previous opinions nor had I read too much. I finished watching it with a rather strange feeling, plagued by confusion and without understanding very well, but with the certainty that it had been a very good movie. One of those movies that stay with you going round and round in your head; that's literally what this production meant to me.

Para hablar un poco en general, me impactó en gran medida la estética de esta película; la animación es sinceramente increíble. Literalmente, puedes sentir que el océano está vivo; sientes la inmensidad, la fuerza, la calma de sus aguas, los movimientos de los peces, las luces, las texturas, absolutamente todo. Tal vez el diseño de los personajes no es el más único ni el más original, pero sin duda hicieron un gran esfuerzo por resaltar toda la magnificencia que puede tener el océano y de verdad que lo hicieron de una manera increíblemente espectacular, lo cual me dejaba maravillada con cada segundo que pasaba. Umi y Sora son los 2 personajes que aquí logramos conocer; son estos chicos del mar, los cuales se nota que tienen una relación muy íntima con el mismo, su forma de moverse, casi si fueran parte del agua, y esa aura de enigma que los rodea te atrapa al instante. Realmente, estos personajes fueron tal para cual; me encantó la estética de cada uno, que nos diferencia en gran medida, y cómo te hipnotiza su relación tan increíble con el mar, hace que se sienta que el mar es otro personaje más de esta película.
To speak a little bit in general, I was greatly impacted by the aesthetics of this film; the animation is honestly incredible. You can literally feel that the ocean is alive; you feel the immensity, the strength, the calmness of its waters, the movements of the fish, the lights, the textures, absolutely everything. Perhaps the design of the characters is not the most unique or the most original, but they certainly made a great effort to highlight all the magnificence that the ocean can have and they really did it in an incredibly spectacular way, which left me in awe with every passing second. Umi and Sora are the 2 characters that we get to know here; they are these kids of the sea, which you can tell they have a very intimate relationship with it, their way of moving, almost as if they were part of the water, and that aura of enigma that surrounds them catches you instantly. I really loved the aesthetics of each one, which differentiates us greatly, and how their incredible relationship with the sea hypnotizes you, making you feel that the sea is just another character in this film.

Sin embargo, Children of the Sea no se limita únicamente a lo visual. La narrativa, aunque en ocasiones puede parecer algo abstracta, te acompaña en un viaje reflexivo junto a Ruka. Ella es un personaje con el que me identifiqué mucho, esa sensación de no encajar completamente y de buscar un sitio en el mundo. Su encuentro con Umi y Sora le introduce a un universo totalmente nuevo, repleto de maravillas pero también de preguntas sin respuestas simples. Me agradó la manera en que se desarrolla su relación con ellos, transicionando de la curiosidad inicial a una comprensión más profunda de su individualidad.
However, Children of the Sea is not limited to visuals alone. The narrative, although at times it may seem a bit abstract, accompanies you on a reflective journey with Ruka. She is a character I really identified with, that feeling of not quite fitting in and searching for a place in the world. Her encounter with Umi and Sora introduces you to a whole new universe, full of wonder but also questions with no simple answers. I liked the way his relationship with them develops, transitioning from initial curiosity to a deeper understanding of his individuality.

Existen instantes en la película que se me quedaron en la memoria. Por ejemplo, cuando comienzan a suceder todos esos fenómenos inusuales en el mar: la aparición masiva de peces, el canto de las ballenas... esa impresión de que algo significativo está ocurriendo, algo que supera nuestra comprensión. Y la figura del padre de Ruka, un oceanógrafo con sus propios dilemas internos, añade otra dimensión interesante a la historia. Su escepticismo original se oponía de manera notable a la creciente fascinación de Ruka por lo misterioso.
There are moments in the film that remain in my memory. For example, when all those unusual phenomena begin to happen in the sea: the massive appearance of fish, the singing of whales... that impression that something significant is happening, something beyond our comprehension. And the figure of Ruka's father, an oceanographer with his own internal dilemmas, adds another interesting dimension to the story. His original skepticism was remarkably at odds with Ruka's growing fascination with the mysterious.

Al finalizar, la película se adentra en dimensiones más metafísicas, investigando la relación entre la existencia en la Tierra y el universo. Admito que hubo ocasiones en las que me sentí algo desorientado con tanta simbología y metáforas. No obstante, esa impresión de enigma y de estar viviendo algo antiguo y fuerte permanecía presente. La escena de la "ceremonia" en el mar, con esa explosión de luz y color, es visualmente impresionante y te hace reflexionar sobre nuestro lugar en el cosmos.
At the end, the film delves into more metaphysical dimensions, investigating the relationship between existence on Earth and the universe. I admit that there were times when I felt somewhat disoriented with so much symbolism and metaphors. Nevertheless, that impression of enigma and of living something ancient and strong remained present. The scene of the "ceremony" in the sea, with that explosion of light and color, is visually stunning and makes you reflect on our place in the cosmos.

Considero que Children of the Sea es una cinta que no pretende ofrecerte todas las respuestas, sino que más bien te invita a meditar sobre nuestra conexión con la naturaleza y con lo incierto. Es una vivencia sensorial y emocional en lugar de una historia lineal convencional. Quizás no sea apto para todos, debido a que exige una cierta disposición hacia interpretaciones y a un tempo tranquilo.
I consider Children of the Sea to be a film that does not pretend to give you all the answers, but rather invites you to meditate on our connection to nature and the uncertain. En resumen, Children of the Sea me resultó una película cautivadora y sugestiva. All in all, I found Children of the Sea to be a captivating and thought-provoking film. Its visual appeal is undeniable, and while its story may seem somewhat mysterious, the impression of wonder and the probing of deep themes such as existence, death and universal connection make it an unforgettable cinematic experience that makes you reflect long after the credits roll.
