This weekend was Thanksgiving in Canada. More accurately
Thanksgiving Day was last Monday, October 14
th, the second Monday of October.
In the United States of America,
Thanksgiving is much later, on the fourth Thursday of November; this year it will be on November 28
th, the latest it could be.
Thanksgiving has been a statutory holiday in most of Canada since 1879.
The two grandsons of my wife had told their parents that they wanted to see "grandpa and grandma's houses" again. So, the whole family flew from Calgary on Friday, October 11
th. They stayed in our apartment in
Coquitlam for two days, visiting the Vancouver area. Then, they came to my house in
Harrison Hot Springs on Sunday morning.
Because they needed to fly back to Calgary on Monday, we had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday evening.
All of our descendants living in Western Canada were there. We were 14, including a friend of my daughter Betty who took this picture.
As I said, the dinner was "traditional" with turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.
It was the first time after our wedding in May that we were all together. Everybody really enjoyed the weekend and I was very happy about this joyful family reunion.
