Medellín, Colombia, is brimming with activities, and the most noteworthy for me is the urban art festival in its 3rd edition. So there's nothing left to do but enjoy it, see it, and appreciate it, because it's inevitable; the city always embraces what's visible around it. Although this series of photos isn't part of the festival itself, it's certainly part of its charm, because when you see the work of experienced graffiti artists, you'll also notice other works that are part of the festival's surroundings.

I love converting my colour photos to black and white; I almost always do it just for the sheer pleasure of looking at them. It's not something I specialise in; it's just a hobby, and it's almost always a change I love because, honestly, black and white photography certainly gives photos a special look, but when it comes to art, in this case paintings, murals, and graffiti, the look is different; it makes you see a much more melancholic and cold aspect of what you're looking at, and frankly, it's not that pleasant. Or perhaps in this particular case, what I'm photographing are paintings with simple brushstrokes, but it definitely conveys just that: a cold and even distant image. But it's always good to see other sides of everything, right?

They are very simple works, but I'm afraid my critical eye isn't greedy; I like any visual stimulus; it brightens my day because someone or several people were there painting or working, and their time is precious, so appreciative glances are always welcome; whether in colour or black and white, there is always work invested, time, ideas, and motives, and that's what I like about art: the expression, whatever it may be, but whoever manages to bring it out is worthy of communicating it.

Thank you for reading and supporting this little project; it's always rewarding to share some photos with this community, and it's always cool to talk about colours and the lack thereof, so thank you, and see you soon, hivers.
