Dragons Lair The Legend for Nintendo Game Boy Getting Re-Release

2025-03-07T18:24:36
Raise your hand if you remember Dragon’s Lair The Legend for the Nintendo Game Boy. Remember how hard it was? Unforgiving. The game that proved “challenging” was an understatement. Yeah, that one. It is getting a re-release in digital format (available now) and physical (available in April 2025). While the different in difficulty is probably closer to taking on a bull versus a lion, it may be easier for most fans to enjoy this time.

How to Do Re-Releases Right

The big difference between this re-release and the original is the difficulty and how it is implemented. Incube8 Games are doing something few re-release companies do. They are giving fans something different than the original, that is often available for much less than the “re-release”.
Here, fans can expect the European version of Dragon’s Lair The Legend. This means slightly easier gaming ahead.
The EU version removed the fall deaths, gives more lives when collecting a certain number of Life Stones, and changes to the jumping mechanic.
Is this enough to get you to throw down on this re-release?
Maybe this next part will help push you over.

Reaching The Most Fans

Many that do these retro releases are scared to death of offering a digital edition, just look at the Atari 2600 new retro gaming scene for proof, or look at Limited Run Games, and more. It is a shame, not everyone has the funds, or the hardware, to justify paying the, obviously, higher price for physical editions.
Incube8 Games are doing fans right with this re-release of Dragon’s Lair. For about $5, as of this writing, you can get the ROM edition of the game. The physical edition includes:
A sealed box
Clear cartridge
Clear cartridge protector
Instruction booklet
Stickers sheet
Silkscreened PCB with Dragon’s Lair logo on back side
Niceties for those that want to have them and have the $45 to spend on a new Game Boy game.
Special thanks to Time Extension for the heads up on this re-release.
