Hi Everyone,
A popular shrine around Mount Fuji surroundings is Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine. Located within Arakurayama Sengen Park, it is a nice stop on the way to see the Chureito Pagoda which is a huge hike up the mountain. This shrine is famous for its stunning panoramic views of Mount Fuji and its peaceful natural surroundings. The shrine is also part of the Fuji Sengen Shrine network, which consists of numerous shrines scattered around the base of Mount Fuji, all dedicated to the beautiful mountain.
Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape, offering a peaceful place away from our busy city life. Though that may be the case during most mornings, past midday, the shrine is filled with visitors with busloads of them coming in frequently.
As you enter the shrine, you could use wash your hands at the temizuya. The shrine also features wooden plaques where visitors write their wishes and hang them for blessings. There are also numerous boxes offering good luck charms and ornaments that you can purchase to take home. These often come with a slip of paper where it reads your luck and messages from the shrine for the year.
The shrine is a popular destination as a one day trip from Tokyo. Public transport is available with a 10-15 minutes walk from the station. If you are like us who drove, there is a free carpark available and there would be attendants there to guide traffic. Once you have finished our visit to the shrine, you could continue and hike up the mountain to see the pagoda and a stunning view of Mt Fuji at the top of the mountain.
