If you see al the new Tech developments like:
- Artificial intelligence
- Blockchain
- Robotics (automation)
- Self driving cars
You might think that human labor will eventually be (partially) obsolete.
The question is what can people do about this? Especially the people whose jobs have been automated.
Some people say the solution is an universal basic income.
Universal basic income is the idea of government unconditionally providing every citizen with enough money to live a basic, above-the-poverty-line life. There are already some trials trying to do this in Europe or Canada:

I think it's a nice step to test these kind of solutions. Then you can see how it works in the real world. And adjust it, when needed. Because if eventually most things are automated by machines, then you will need these kind of solutions for a lot of people.
The positive side is, that you don't have to work for money. You can do the things you really like. So perhaps the basic income idea, isn't that bad! :)
