Be kind

In this world of ours, we are the only ones who can truly be there for one another. Life is simple and easy; we humans are the ones who make it complicated. We entered a rat race whose end no one can predict. The slogan “every man for himself” is what many now chant, and then we wonder where we are heading as humans.

Everyone talks about charity and giving to others, yet most of our neighbours go without food and shelter. Still, we measure success by what we have that others do not. We raise our shoulders high, look down on others, or use what we have to oppress them.
Life is only good when the people around us can feel our impact in a positive way. Maybe this could reduce crime and foster unity. But human nature often makes this difficult. The monster within us always thwarts us and pushes us to do the unthinkable. What else explains the idea of using fellow humans like us for rituals; rituals meant to achieve wealth?

Just as this year began, I already heard of couples killing their friend for ritual purposes, decapitating the body, cutting off the head and private parts in the hope of acquiring wealth. I do not know whether the superstition surrounding ritual wealth is true, but it is common in Africa to see people take this route to acquire riches. The question I always ask myself is: Will this really help them in any way? Will it make them the wealthiest people on earth? Or is this what the wealthiest people on earth are truly engaged in? These and many other thoughts are battles we face daily.
We have to deal with different categories of people with shallow thinking.

There is a saying that there is no justification for crime whatsoever. But maybe, just maybe, if we were kinder to one another, crime would reduce. Imagine someone owing rent, losing loved ones to health challenges, and battling various life issues, yet having someone to console and support them.

Or maybe if many of us stopped shaming people for their predicaments, life would be different.
It is hard to find anyone without their own demons to battle. Everyone has problems and life difficulties.
What do we do to make things better for ourselves? Many are ready to do anything to survive and can you really blame them?

In this world of constant competition, even in the workplace, everyone wants the best position. Those considered mediocre are told to buckle up or make do with their situation. Crime is on the rise. You hear of people being robbed in a keke, where their hard-earned belongings are taken from them. The sad truth is that many people are involved. What can we do to stop this? The reality is that crime may be reduced, but it will be very difficult to eliminate.

Many people believe that those who are not doing well in life are entirely responsible for their situation. Maybe that is partly true, but it could also be that they are simply facing life challenges they do not yet know how to confront.

Life is good only if we are kind to one another.
