summer time down on the most southern continent in the world means that there is typically a lot of light and not a lot of darkness. This gives you a lot of opportunities to explore the outside terrain "late at night" to see what the definition of midnight light.
I decided one evening that I would get out of my comfortable sleeping quarters and make my way to the outer decks, camera in hand to experience such a thing. Much to my delight, I was greeted by this view, which was not a disappointment. Worth the extra effort I reckon.
