We visited my 88-year-old Father-in-Law yesterday, and he gave me this piece of paper to read. He likes making poems, and I love reading them. Some are funny, some are deep, but this one made me really laugh. He gave me this piece to share, and I hope it will make you smile!
Here's what he wrote:🥜😄
How do I open up this nut and break inside its shell?
I’ve been trying now more than a week and it’s still alive and well.
I’ve smashed it with a hammer more than a hundred times, picked it up and had a look, but not a crack there could I find.
I've put it in a pan of water and boiled it till it dried.
I thought that this would soften it and I could break inside.
The blinking thing was harder still when I took it out the pan.
So I sat down with a cuppa and thought up another plan.
At last I had the answer, there’s no if or but,
I’m going to open up this shell before it does my nut.
I took it to a busy road and said goodbye my friend.
I tossed it in the middle "that’s where you’ll meet your end!"
The last thing I remember were horns and screeching brakes, I woke up in a hospital bed full of bandages and aches.
The nurse was very nice and asked me did I want some food.
I said yes please and off she went to fetch me something good.
She came back and said “I’m sorry we have no food, we have some bars of chocolate. Would you like a nice
whole nut"
Have a Lovely Day,
Mariah 😊💗
