The surroundings have turned lush and green, with flowers popping up everywhere. The weather has been so inviting that I spent a few wonderful hours outdoors, crocheting.
I started aimlessly stitching, simply enjoying the day, but then an idea came to me: a wrist wallet! A few times while out biking or walking, I found myself needing just a bank card and a little cash — but I always had to carry a full bag. Once, while biking, I even lost everything from my pockets along the road!
Today, sitting beside a beautiful wild pink Mayflower, inspired me
to create a wrist wallet, planned to suspend it around the wrist with a twisty vine and pink flowers, just like the scene around me.
I had some leftover delicate yarn, a soft blend of cotton and merino wool that I had been saving for something special. It was the perfect material for this project: strong enough for a wallet, yet gentle and comfortable on the skin. I used a 3 mm and a 2.5 mm crochet hook for different parts, to achieve just the right texture and detail.
First, I made a chain to match the width of my wrist.
Then, I worked double crochet into the back loops to create a nice stretch and texture.
I doubled the length according to the size I wanted for the wallet.
Once the main piece was finished, I began shaping the flap: I gradually reduced stitches until only four remained. Then, I made a four-chain loop for the button closure.
I stitched the sides together.
I attached a lovely copper button, and the chain loop fit perfectly.
To suspend the wallet, I crocheted a few chains, lightly twisting them as I worked to create a vine-like effect.
I also made a few tiny pink flowers and attached them securely.
All done and I'm pretty pleased with the result!
Now I can carry my bank card and little essentials safely and keep them easily accessible, no more lost pockets.
Blending with nature.
It's always inspiration that boosts our creativity, and for me, nature is the greatest muse of all.
