Gudi Padwa is an auspicious and very popular Indian festival that marks the start of the lunisolar new year in India.
This festival is celebrated by the Marathi and Konkani Hindus.
The festival of Gudi Padwa is celebrated mostly in Maharashtra, Goa as well as Daman.
The day also marks the start of the month of Chaitra according to the hindu calendar.
In the southern Part the day is celebrated as Ugadi and it also marks the first day of Navratri where each day the devotees worship the goddess designated for that day.
Gudi Padwa
Gudi is a representation of a flag like object that is placed outside the homes especially in houses in Maharashtra.
Gudi is a pot that is hung upside down on a stick.There is a cloth hanging from it and sweets shaped like gold coins.
There is mango which represents food. A branch of neem which represents good health.
In all it is a representation of wishes for good health, food ,and happiness that people pray for on the day of Padwa.
All this comes from the gudi which is also a representation of the Sun which sustains life.
Padwa means pratipad or the first day after amavasya.
Today we look at how Gudi Padwa was celebrated in the holy city of Shirdi by the devotees along with the officials of Sri Sai Baba trust Shirdi officials.
There was a special celebration organized by the SST which is the Sri Sai Sansthan trust of Shirdi.

This year, the amazing festival of Gudi Padwa is being celebrated like every year on behalf of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi. On the occasion of Gudi Padwa festival, Shri's Samadhi Mandir and the surroundings have been decorated with attractive flowers with the donation of the generous Sai devotee Shri Taresh Anand, USA.

On the occasion of Gudi Padwa festival, Shri Saibaba Sansthan Chief Executive Officer Goraksh Gadilkar and his learned wife Mrs. Vandana Gadilkar performed a ritual puja of the Gudi and erected the Gudi on the summit of the Shri Saibaba Mandir. On this occasion, Shri Saibaba Sansthan Ad Hoc Committee Chairman and Chief District and Sessions Judge Anju Shende (Sonatakke), Deputy Chief Executive Officer Bhimraj Darade and his learned wife Mrs. Vaishali Darade, Accounts Officer Avinash Kulkarni, Temple Department Head Vishnu Thorat and Public Relations Officer Tushar Shelke were present.

Shri Saibaba is revered by lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad. Due to this faith, devotees donate generously to Saibaba's temple. On the occasion of Gudi Padwa festival, Shrimati Priyanshi Akshay Khullar, a resident of Shirdi, offered an attractive silver plate weighing 709.600 grams worth Rs. 70 thousand to Shri Sai Baba's Saicharan.
The whole day saw lacks of devotees coming to the Sri Sai Baba temple Shirdi to get his blessings.
