Reflections on Hive and Moving Forward

Fellow Hivers,
It seems I stirred up the beehive last week with my posts about AI and the launch of @hiveasmaximus. My intention was to bring something exciting and innovative to Hive, but I realize now that my excitement got ahead of me. I underestimated the sensitivity around AI-generated content, post rewards, and, most importantly, the value of clear and early communication. Looking back, it would have been much better to start with a conversation - sharing the idea and building consensus step by step.
One post I came across today really stuck with me. It talked about how, over the years, many Hivers got pushed out for making mistakes or not being enough of a "Hiver". That resonated deeply with me because I knew and valued many who are not on Hive anymore (i.e. postfork). And like everyone else here, I’ve always tried to stay true to Hive’s core values, even when my actions didn’t perfectly align with the expectations of others. But over the years, I often came close to "being pushed out" myself. Thankfully, there has always been enough support from others to keep me here, and I truly hope that we’re becoming more and more a community of Bees - uplifting each other, not Crabs in a Bucket.
I’ve also noticed some questions about my Hivepower. Over my 8 years here, my stake has ranged from as little as 10 Hivepower to as much as 2 Million. And yes, holding more Hivepower means having more influence and a bigger vote, but one thing has never changed - my commitment to Hive. For me, this platform has been an anchor in the ever-changing world of Web3 and Crypto. It’s not about maximizing personal profit; it’s about building something meaningful and representing Hive on the global stage. Hive has always been my home base, even as I explore other technologies & chains.
To those who may still doubt my intentions, I get it. Questions and accountability are part of what makes Hive unique. I’m not perfect but as a witness I thrive to be as as transparent as possible. Like everyone else, I’m navigating the complexities of this space while doing my best to build projects that push boundaries and create value for our community. The connections I’ve made here, whether onchain, offchain or in person at Hivefest, remind me why Hive has always been more than just a technology - it’s a community.
As we begin 2025, I remain dedicated to helping Hive grow as a decentralized and resilient ecosystem. Together, we’ve seen it all - bull runs, bear markets, governance attacks, sellouts, drama and everything else that happened onchain. And yet, we’re still here, stronger than ever. I truly believe the best is yet to come. Let’s keep building, sharing ideas, and shaping the future of Hive - together.
