Highlighting @ricardo993, with the story:
The city below put on a light show just for us. The night was ours. Along most of the trail through Dos Banderas, flashlights weren't even necessary--Caracas lit the path from below.
Curator's comment :
The story is perfectly paced and packed with vibrant self-deprecation (with a few pats on the back).
Highlighting @universoperdido, with the story:
From that day on, our relationship took a long time to mend. He would not speak to me, ignored me completely, and many times, he made mocking references to me as a snitch. Eventually, we got over it, but no punishment from my father was as severe as my brother's indifference.
Curator's comment :
Universoperdido writes a heartfelt CNF about losing his brother’s trust because he ratted on him.
Highlighting @offia66, with the story:
We got to the river and dived in; it was all fun, and indeed I had been missing out on all the fun and the feeling that comes with the water and the environment, but all that ended within a few minutes when I got to the side of the river where the current was high, and I lost control and found myself flowing with the current. Friends thought I was joking and teasing until they saw that the river flow was really pushing me and I had lost control and was panicking at the same time.
Curator's comment :
It is told in an orderly fashion and conveys the emotions and events vividly. A subtle touch of humor adds to the reading pleasure.
Highlighting @ ghost-art, with the story:
Nobody had known that I really didn't want to work there, that I wasn't really looking for a job to pass time or trying to help out a relative. The truth was that I failed my university entrance exams for the second time and was too ashamed to let anyone know except my family who knew already. So I decided to work at my relative's restaurant to take my mind off the heartbreak of failing my exams.
Curator's comment :
ghost-art offers an excellent, emotive and emotional CNF about taking a waiting job to make up for failing her university entrance exams (twice). Heartbreaking read.
Means :
Pretending that something is undesirable or worthless because it is personally unattainable. Essentially , it's a form of resentment that leads people to act poorly out of spite.
