Hello Hello to all Hivians, Silver Bloggers and anyone else reading this.

Last week's The Silver Bloggers Chronicles - Prompt 29 is ....

Tell us about what Learning and skills you would like to learn or improve this new year..

The beginning of the year is a good time to start new projects, learn new things, or pick up some skills we abandoned in the past and improve them.

I saw the prompt title and knew immediately I had to write this chronicle because I have been doing it since December.

I then opened up the prompt post written by @coquicoin and was chuckling away at ...

For my part, I've been taking up crochet again. It's something I've actually been doing since the end of last year, when I made a couple of scarves and some beanies to wear in the Chicago winter. Last week, I've started a project to make a small blanket, and I want to learn new stitches in the future with other projects.

So why the fluff was I chuckling?

About two hours before the start of December, Mrs T turned round to me and said she wanted to start a YouTube channel.

She had been wanting to do this for years, but never did.

Well lo and behold, she read someone, that someone being ButterCup Miniatures were running an advent knitalong for a miniature jumper / sweater.

So not only did she want a channel but she wanted to participate in vlogmas is where they post one video a day!

Talk about fast learning and learning on the job...

Mrs T had decided what she wanted to call it. It was up to me to do the rest.

Hive taught us to be content creators.

Well all know the basics of getting a lead image for our blog posts here on Hive.

But goodness me for videos it is so much more difficult.

I think I nailed that thumbnail and we got over 800 views on that long form video, which is massive for us.

So a new skill, video editing, what the royal fluff is that! Lol weil I am getting to grips with capcut..

This was all on the laptop. Next problem these video files are fluffing huge! I use windows 10 too, so some upgrades are needed. Probably a wee mini PC might do the job.

But wait, we all know about long form content but what about short form content?

So I have never really been into making videos. Photos I love as I am sure you will know from my posts on Hive.

I sneak this into the videos, and for the next episode I shall be popping in a wee phrase I use on all my Hive posts ... can you guess what it is?

Well I also love Google, so when veo 3 came out and we could use it. I just popped a picture of one of Mrs T's monkeys that she made with a banana and told Veo to animate it!

It came out fun.

YouTube has a studio app, TikTok has a studio app and then Insta has edits!

My phone has got bombarded with new apps!!!

It is only this last week that I started to explore those short form options!

They are fun and I popped a couple of reels or toks or stories or whatever they are called.

So I have been learning about B roll

and yes in time, I shall be having my own channels especially for the shorts category.

I remember the days when web 2 did not pay you ... Those days are long gone, you can even get monetized on facebook, not that I will.

But it begs the question, that was a huge hook to get people to web 3, because you weren't monetized for your efforts on web 2, why would they come to web 3 now? Yes I get the privacy aspect, but let's be honest the vast majority don't care about that.
