Working Boats

For todays post I am going to share a few shots of what I call working boats as opposed to private water craft, all taken on walks around the port here in New Bedford, one difference being most of these were taken after the sun had risen and not my normal morning blues shots down by the port.

Starting with this Police boat, Not sure what exactly they do ou on the water, I guess rescues is one thing, but probably it has other tasks it takes care of as well I would imagine

Now this next shot doesnt show the boat, and infact I guess it doesnt really match my title of workign Boat as like me it is retired, but it worked in its day and in quite dangerous conditions.
Plus add the fact I don't think I have ever shared a shot of the actual light part of the Lightship, so decided to share it in this post.
I have never worked on a ship, but i have always been fascinated by masts on ships and seeing people climb them, and have always loved the idea of climbing up to the crows Nest on a boat.
and if you haven't heard the term Crows nest let me explain it

A crow's nest is a structure in the upper part of the main mast of a ship or a structure that is used as a lookout point. On ships, this position ensured the widest field of view for lookouts to spot approaching hazards, other ships, or land by using the naked eye or optical devices such as telescopes or binoculars

and of course how can I share the mast and lights, without a shot of the Lightship Nantucket
