Some shots around the pond in Buttoonwood Park

Today I am going to share a few shots taken in Buttonwood park, from last year and maybe even further back than that
Buttonwood Park is called by many the “crown jewel” of New Bedford’s parks. and I do agree it is such a charming park, I and for the matter many others enjoy taking walks around or through the park, but my favorite spot in the park is walking around the pond, I am always drawn to and feel most clam when I am near water.
It’s the largest and most visited public park in the city. It’s also a historical treasure, designed by the famed architectural firm of Frederick Law Olmsted — the father of American landscape architecture
He designed many well know parks perhaps the most well known, Central Park in New York City alongside Calvert Vaux, but he also designed many other prominent parks including Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York, Riverside Park in Manhattan, the park system in Buffalo, New York, and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina
THis was early one morning I think back in August 2023, looking across the pond with some subtle sunrise colors

And then looking to the right, I loved the still water giving some cool reflections

That day there were not so many birds onthe pond just a few ducks

And looking across to what locals callt he wrming house when it used to be just that a spot people could go into to warm up after ice skating on the pond,
now it is used as a facility by the Council on aging here in New Bedford where the host various events for the seniors
