We all know of how social media has influenced and created so many opportunities in humans and places in this present era through the internet, and has continued to make possibilities that many never believed especially in the well known platforms.

And through social media citizens are always putting out their opinions in matters that concerns the country , hoping those in government called the leaders will listen to and follow up with the right things and the leaders who are the politicians also most times use this medium of social media to reach out to the public who are the citizens, as regards to any matter that needs deliberation. This shows that the social media is a medium or channel that is made open for communication and for everybody which has enabled every citizen to speak out their minds on issues of the government.

Talking of social media and politics in my country Nigeria 🇳🇬, I could say that the politicians are always using the social media to enrich themselves because all they do during the campaign period is to hire groups who they bribe with huge some of money 💰 to go about campaigning for them, promising the citizens what they will never remember once they are in the seat 💺 of power. And because of how the economy is so hard, citizens are lured into voting for the wrong candidate just with little money 💰 in their pockets that will never change their lives.

The use of social media in my country by many people especially the politicians to get citizens to support them I see as an abuse to social media platforms which they do not care about hence politics has become a game of chase, and those wining are the ones who plays dirty. And honestly speaking, Politics in Nigeria 🇳🇬 has lost its flavor due to how bad the government and those in power called the leaders turned the country upside down.

Those who are interested in politics in Nigeria 🇳🇬 are only those who are connected to the government, and had continued to reap from the public purse, a circle that has continued for many years and a very sad situation because the voice of the citizens does not count any longer wether through the social media or any other means used. Neither does the votes of the citizens counts again through what happened in the last election 🗳 where ballots boxes 📦 were catered away and citizens wounded during thugs clashes. All these has made many loose interest in politics, so they rather not listen to what the politicians are saying through the social media.

However, since their is no improvement after many years in the country, the politicians are always wasting their time in the social media trying to connect with the citizens to influence their tenor or support them because everyone knows how its all a fake move full of lies even when they are trying to prove us wrong. And the social media has also continued to help the citizens as a medium to put out their points out there without fear 😨 or anxiety 😥 since everyone is seeing things through the medium.

In conclusion, I will say that the social media has not generally been a good effect towards politics in my country despite many people are moving on so well through the social media in their own personal engagements and endeavors. People are not looking towards the government again to benefit from them instead, they are up and doing on their own through the opportunities the social media and Internet has brought in this era.
