Introduction
It was December 2024, Christmas season. Everyone is busy with decorations, catching up with friends and celebrating. Everyone but me. I had a bad fight with a long time friend, some blocking on social media happened, my facebook was even banned randomly because facebook thought my account was associated with someone suspicious. My job was a mess, had a lot of changes that I cannot keep up which made me quit eventually. Needless to say, I had a really bad year.
I was thinking of giving myself a gift but due to some consecutive misfortunes in my life, I just decided to gift myself some freedom - Freedom to talk, compete, and just be me. This is when I remembered a friend I used to play with in the computer cafe telling me about this social media site like facebook where you can post and earn at the same time. The name of the site was Steemit.
We only played on computer cafe and this is way before Covid so I have no connections with him. I am not active on Facebook during that time. I searched for
@kmelvin256, the name he usually use in other games, and checked if he was still posting. Unfortunately, he stopped. I checked around and found out about Hive as the new and more active Steemit so I decided to register.
About Slimey and my Persona
I was born in the Philippines and more than 20 years ago. It is a roller coaster to where I am now and still is but I am very happy that I am in a better place 10 years ago. I would like people to know me but with recent news about vtubers getting harassed online and offline, I'm quite scared to tell you my real name, so you can just call me Slimey or if you're uncomfortable, people also call me Prince or PJ. The idea came from an anime I really liked, "Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken" or more known as "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime."
My character is based on the main character, Rimuru Tempest, a very lovable and aloof blue slime but can also be scary and serious when needed. I think his personality fits the one I wanted to be online so I decided to do my new online persona around him.
I am currently a student. I should've graduated years ago but sh*t happened so I stopped and only continuing now. I'm 2nd year college Medical Technology student in Our Lady of Fatima University. I'm that weird nerdy kid who likes school and going to school. I love learning new things because I like experimenting and learning new stuff. Hopefully, after I graduate, I still have time the freedom to do the things I like while being a responsible member of society.
How I got to know Hive and Splinterlands
I already told y'all how I learned about Hive. So, let me tell you how I learned about Splinterlands insted. I was watching random videos looking for new Yugioh Master Duel techs since I heard Monarchs will be having supports and in a random youtube video, I learned about Splinterlands. I just saw it and thought it was interesting art. I watched it and learned a TCG where you can earn while playing so I tried it and liked it.
I quickly grasped the idea of the game because I like playing other TCG like Heartstone and Pokemon. Splinterlands is different than those because this is more like TFT but in a card form but at the same time, the concept is somewhat the same.
My Future Plans
One great thing that I wish I could do in the future is to help people. That's why I studied Med Tech. I would've studied Nursing but I like the tech aspect of medicine than the one doing the harder work. I always dream that if I get rich, I want to establish a foundation for college scholarship. I envy America for having student loans. Yes, the rate may be bad but at least you can study and ensure that you can finish school. In the Philippines, if you want to finish college, you have 3 choices:
1. Have rich parents or at least have a parent that is rich enough to support your college education.
2. Be smart enough to get scholarship and college scholarship only comes to like top 5 of the section 1 students in high school. That means you MUST be one of the 5 smartest students in your whole school in order to get that government scholarship to support your college.
3. This is where most people fall, work. Either you work full job and save so you can go to college or split your time to work half of the day and go to college for the other half.
Also, for the scholarship, if you stopped even one year, yeah, you won't get that anymore. That is only for the fresh high school graduates. If ever I get the opportunity to be big, that would be my project, a college scholarship foundation to help all those people who wanted to go to college but couldn't.
This post is really scuffed. I know. I jump from topic to topic because I am a yapper. I apologize for that. That's me though online. In person, I am shy and a loner. Anycase, my future plans...
Right now, I know my contents will be Splinterlands and art. I do like drawing and animation even though I am not good at both. But like I mentioned in the beginning, I am planning this Hive to be my freedom space so I will post things I like. Maybe more scuffed art or maybe some things not associated with it.
I also think I could do some karaoke singing and post it on youtube then here. I am a very shy person so if I do it, I might not do it that often or I will do it after a long time. I'm planning to be a vtuber as well despite the bad news about being one. I want to try a lot of things and see what sticks with me and what I would enjoy.
