Violence is a serious issue that has plagued us since the beginning of time. We know how bad it is to live in a city or neighborhood where crime and violence rates are high, regardless of the type of violence. It is difficult to stay there when we know that at any moment our lives could be in danger and our physical and mental integrity could suffer from some unexpected event. Brazil, for example, has high rates of violence, crime, gangs, factions, and at times it seems like it's the Wild West.
But are things the way they are because of everything we see on TV, series, movies, and video games? Does all of this just influence people to commit these atrocities even more? I think the answer is yes or no, and it depends a lot on each person and their mindset. I tend to firmly believe that those who are weak in the head are much more easily influenced, so what they see or do in a virtual environment ends up influencing them, and so in their minds they think that they can do everything here in reality in the same way.
I have always argued that games that claim to be violent, like FPS games, for example, only influence those who really have no notion of reality, who can't differentiate between them, and therefore, those who are weak in the head and can't make connections. I watch online shooting games, I actually like to play them and I've played a bit of everything, where we pick up weapons and kill people, but of course, in a virtual environment and with that I know that I can only do that there, because they're not real people. So, obviously I can't do that out here, I can't go around killing people and stealing cars.
I think the same goes for TV series and movies, they are all fiction, they don't exist, no one really died. I think that's what needs to be worked on in people, from their first days of school or even in life! We need to talk, explain that these things are virtual and that they can't be done in reality, it's a work of awareness and I know it's complicated, but in my opinion it's the best we can do. Of course, as individuals, in the government sphere, the country we live in and its entire political leadership need to combat crime and show that it is not legal.
It is necessary for each person to be able to set an example of this, to prove that even though there are bad and violent people, we do not need to become like them. That is why I think it is everyone's duty, especially politicians', to create rules and ways to convey this to the population, to demonstrate precisely this, at the base, that the right thing to do is to do things within the law, that killing is wrong, that stealing is wrong, that attacking people is wrong.
I know that when it comes to politics, everything is very complicated, but this would be the utopia, for each person to do their part and for politicians to promote ways to increase security in their city, promote quality of life, job opportunities, social programs that keep young people away from drugs and the world of crime, psychological help, guidance work, education, all of that. As a society, I think that's what needs to be done, coming together to try to create a better, safer and less violent environment for everyone.
A violência é um caso sério que nos atormenta desde os primórdios. Sabemos como é ruim viver em uma cidade ou um bairro que seja, onde os índices de criminalidade e violência são altos, seja qual for o tipo dessa violência. É complicado ficar ali quando sabemos que a qualquer momento a nossa vida pode estar em perigo e a nossa integridade física e mental pode sofrer com algum acontecimento inesperado. O Brasil, por exemplo, tem altas taxas de violência, criminalidade, quadrilhas, facções, aqui em certos momentos parece que se torna um verdadeiro velho oeste.
Mas, será que as coisas são o que são por conta de tudo o que vemos na televisão, séries, filmes, jogos eletrônicos? Será que tudo isso somente influencia mais ainda as pessoas a cometerem estas barbaridades? Acho que a resposta é sim ou não, e depende muito de cada pessoa e sua mentalidade. Costumo acreditar fielmente que, quem é fraco da cabeça, se deixar ser influenciado com muito mais facilidade, então o que ele vê ou faz em um ambiente virtual acaba por influenciar ele e, com isso, em sua mente, o pensamento é que ele pode fazer tudo aqui na realidade da mesma forma.
Sempre defendi que os jogos que dizem ser violentos, como os de FPS, por exemplo, só influenciam quem realmente não tem a noção da realidade, quem não consegue diferenciar isso, portanto, quem é fraco da cabeça, que não consegue associar as coisas. Vejo os jogos online de tiro, inclusive gosto de jogar e já joguei de tudo um pouco, onde pegamos em armas e matamos pessoas, mas claro, em ambiente virtual e com isso sei que só posso fazer isso ali, porque não são pessoas de verdade. Assim, é óbvio que não posso fazer isso aqui fora, não posso sair por aí matando pessoas e roubando automóveis.
Penso que o mesmo vale para séries de TV e filmes, são tudo ficção, não existem, ninguém faleceu de verdade. Acho que é isso que tem que ser trabalhado nas pessoas, desde os seus primeiros dias de escola ou até mesmo de vida! Devemos conversar, explicar que essas coisas são virtuais e que não se pode fazer na realidade, é um trabalho de conscientização e sei que é complicado, mas na minha opinião é o melhor que podemos fazer. Claro que isso, como pessoas, no âmbito de governo, o país em que vivemos e toda a sua cúpula política, precisa combater o crime e mostrar que o mesmo não é legal.
É necessário que cada pessoa consiga demonstrar o exemplo disso, provar que por mais que existam pessoas más e violentas, que nos não precisamos nos tornar igual a elas. Por isso acho que é um dever de todos e principalmente de políticos, criar regras e maneiras de passar isso para a população, demonstrar justamente isso, na base, que o correto é a gente fazer as coisas dentro da lei, que matar é errado, que roubar é errado, que agredir as pessoas é errado.
Sei que quando se fala em política é tudo muito complicado, mas essa seria a utopia, cada um fazer a sua parte e os políticos promoverem formas de aumentar a segurança em sua cidade, promover qualidade de vida, oportunidades de emprego, programas sociais que tirem os jovens das drogas e do mundo do crime, ajuda psicológica, trabalho de orientação, educação, tudo isso. Como sociedade, acho que é isso que precisa ser feito, a união em tentar criar um ambiente melhor, mais seguro e menos violento para todos.
