This was one of the first things i learnt to make when i was a Teenager, this is relatively simple recipe, i have a toddler who wouldn't let me rest whenever i am cooking so i decided to involve her, if you have kids and would like them learn with you in the kitchen then this is a good recipe to start with!

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups of Flour(375 grams)
  2. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  3. Nutmeg 1tbs
  4. Sugar 100g
  5. Margarine 115g
  6. 1/2 cup of milk
  7. 1 egg(optional)
  8. Oil for frying

Prep Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients; Flour, sugar, baking powder and nutmeg. Stir thoroughly

  2. Slice in the Margarine (combine the dry ingredients and the butter)

  3. In a separate bowl, Whisk the milk and egg together.

  4. Using your hands/dough mixer, combine the dry ingredients & butter, and the egg/milk mix. (i prefer to use my hands)

  5. Once dough is formed, Roll out dough until its flat.

  6. Using a knife, cut out dough horizontally and vertically to form squares(any shape you want), flour your tray so they don't stick together.
