Hey everyone here on Hive! A big warm hello to each and every one of you so glad i’m finally getting around to introducing myself properly here.

My name’s Marlyn Abella, and o just turned 58 last month. You know how life goes one minute you are chasing after little ones and trying to keep up with their crazy schedules and the next thing you know you are counting gray hairs and reminiscing about the old days. I have got four kids total and let me tell you being a mom has been the biggest blessing and the hardest job i have ever taken on. Each of them is so different from the other one’s a nurse another runs a small sari-sari store near our place the youngest is still in college studying education. They keep me busy, that’s for sure!

But i had be lying if i said everything’s been sunshine and rainbows. A few years back, we lost my eldest child to kidney disease. It was… well there’s really no easy way to say it it broke our whole family apart for a while. We tried everything we could countless doctor visits medications even looking into transplant options but sometimes life just does not go the way we plan. Some days are still really tough, especially when i walk past their old room or catch a whiff of their favorite dish being cooked somewhere. But i have learned that grief does not ever really go away you just learn how to carry it with you like a heavy bag you have gotten used to slinging over your shoulder.

I want to give a huge thank you to @jocabanero4 she is the one who really pushed to get me on here. I found out about Hive from her and my youngest daughter she’s always telling me i need to find ways to connect with people and share my stories instead of just sitting at home watching TV all day. At first i thought “Me? On the internet? I can barely figure out how to use my smartphone without their help!” But they sat down with me showed me how things work and here i am now.

I have always loved cooking Filipino food you name it i can probably make it. Adobo, sinigang, kare-kare my kids say my lechon kawali is the best they have ever tasted. I’m also really into gardening i have got a little plot in our backyard where i grow tomatoes eggplants and some herbs. There’s something so peaceful about getting your hands dirty and watching things grow from tiny seeds. Maybe i will share some of my recipes or gardening tips here if you guys are interested?

I’m not exactly sure what im doing here yet still figuring out how to navigate everything but i know i want to meet new people hear about your lives and maybe even help someone out if i can. Life’s taught me that we all need each other especially when times get tough. So if you have got a story to tell or just want someone to talk to feel free to drop me a message. I promise i will do my best to write back even if it takes me a little while to type everything out properly!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you better. Here’s to making new friends and sharing good times and even the not so good ones together..
Hope you like my story, till my next journey God bless 🙏
