Hive Open Mic Week 313
My name is @sampraise77. This week’s theme is Sacrifice, so I decided to cover the hymn “He Is Lord” by Blessing Akinyode. The song might be simple, but its message carries a deep truth that really speaks to our faith.
He Is Lord it’s a confession that comes from understanding Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. When we say He is Lord, we’re recognizing His authority, His victory, and His divine nature. This comes from Jesus’ death and resurrection. He gave Himself as the ultimate sacrifice, died, and rose again in glory. That victory over death is why we can confidently say He is Lord over everything.
For me, this song hits close to home. It reminds me that worship isn’t just about singing, it’s about letting go. Calling Jesus “Lord” means giving Him control of every part of my life, my choices, my plans, my wants. It means accepting that my life belongs to the One who paid the price for me.
The line about every knee bowing and every tongue confessing paints a strong picture. It says that one day, whether we want to or not, everything will recognize His Lordship. But as believers, we don’t have to wait for that day, we can choose now to bow our hearts to Him. That’s where sacrifice comes in. Real sacrifice isn’t just about giving things up on the outside; it’s about choosing every day to live with respect and obedience to God.
In this cover, I’m doing more than just singing a hymn,I’m showing my faith and devotion. I’m saying Jesus is Lord over my life, my music, and all that I stand for. This is my gift, my sacrifice of worship.
I hope when you listen, it moves you. Not just to sing along, but to think about what it really means to call Him Lord. Because when that truth settles inside you, it changes everything.
