I remember well when I was walking around in Almelo, close to where my brother has his company. I sometimes visited them, and then continued to walk around to take photographs of the stuff around me. Around this time, it was almost the end of Autumn, my favorite Season of the year. I do wish it was a bit warmer though, I don't do well under cold weather conditions, to be honest.

While the weather was quite gray, I thought making silhouettes of these trees that were filled with birds would be a great shot. And right at that moment, a cyclist cycled past me with some speed and all the birds started to fly away. And together with the shot that I had in my head, it flew out together with these birds. Too bad, I quickly grabbed my camera and tried to photograph the tree with the birds flying out of it.

I was always a bit sad when I looked at these photographs. As if I was trapped with the illusion that I only had one chance to photograph this. Right now, I think these shots turned out very nicely. It may not have been the photograph that I had in my mind for a couple of years, but with the red/golden/fire-red sky, there isn't much to add, to be honest. I hope you enjoy the photographs as well. All shots were taken by me, with a Canon 5D Mark II, and a Canon 17-40mm f/4.0L USM.

Cold weather isn't much my thing, but it is perfect for landscape photography or capturing wild Sunsets. These photographs were edited in Camera RAW, mimicking such a fire-red Sunset. Love how they turned out.

Cheers,
Ruben
