Strong or Mild Coffee?| The Coffee Shop Prompt Week 156 [EN-ES]

As you know, this time @cinnccf is asking us to share a memorable experience we've had in a coffee shop, and yes, this week I had a strange experience discovering a new place that just opened in my city. Let me tell you about it.

*** It turns out I was looking for somewhere to get a strong coffee to brighten my day. Almost unexpectedly, I glanced up as I approached the city center, walking along one of the busiest streets. What had once been a kind of private nightclub now appeared as an inviting café, beckoning me to step inside. *** |||||| |-|-|-|-|-| *** |||| |-|-|-| *** The decor, with antique items and details reminiscent of advertisements, commercials, and brands from the first half of the 20th century, along with two superb and well-maintained classic Harley Davidson motorcycles, immediately captivated me. I thought: The coffee here must be delicious. *** ||||| |-|-|-|-| *** ||| |-|-| *** As soon as I stepped inside the café, a waitress greeted me with remarkable kindness. I was fortunate enough to also be attended to by the owner himself when he noticed my expression of delight as I took in every detail of the design and decor. *** *** ||||| |-|-|-|-| *** |||| |-|-|-| *** The owner, a Canadian man living in Cuba, explained that he also runs a similar establishment in his home country of Canada.

He told me about the two motorcycles and how they were damaged in a hurricane several years ago and are no longer operational. I found it a unique touch that these two classic motorcycles are on display while customers enjoy their coffee and other treats.

After the chat and the tour of the place, I ordered a coffee and it was served with a smile that was always appreciated.

The coffee looked appealing. I inhaled the aroma, sighed, smiled, and prepared to take the first sip.

At first, I realized that the flavor wasn't exactly what I expected: a strong espresso.

I won't say much, I'll just show you what the coffee looked like after a few moments, when the foam disappeared. You can see how it's not a strong coffee at all. I suppose the Canadian gentleman should learn a little more about the espresso we Cubans are used to.

*** *** In any case, the friendliness and quality of service from the staff and the owner made it worthwhile to overlook the unexpected consistency of the coffee. I decided to enjoy it anyway, despite how strange it all was. Yes, strange because I hadn't expected it at all, especially when they brought me the bill and I realized it was the most expensive and worst-tasting coffee I'd ever had in my city.

Fortunately, I later discovered another place where, incidentally, the coffee is also overpriced, but its quality is truly worth savoring. I'll tell you about it next week. For now, I hope you enjoy this tour I'm sharing with you, and as always, please keep smiling!

Con el anhelo de que este sea un espléndido fin de semana para todos, ¡les regalo un abrazo de luz con aroma a café!

Como sabrán, en esta ocasión @cinnccf nos propone comentar sobre alguna interacción memorable presenciada en una cafetería y sí, esta semana he vivenciado algo raro al descubrir un nuevo sitio que recién inauguraron en mi ciudad. Les cuento.

*** Resulta que andaba buscando donde tomar un café bien fuerte para animar el día. Casi sin esperarlo, de pronto giro la vista mientras iba llegando al centro urbano y transitaba por una de las calles de más tráfico en la ciudad. Lo que fuere antes una especie de discoteca particular, ahora se mostraba como una atractiva cafetería que invitaba inevitablemente a entrar por su puerta. *** |||||| |-|-|-|-|-| *** |||| |-|-|-| *** El decorado, con artículos antiguos y detalles que evocan a propagandas, anuncios y marcas comerciales de la primera mitad del siglo XX, sumado a dos estupendas y bien cuidadas motocicletas clásicas Harley Davidson, enseguida me sedujeron. Pensé: En este sitio el café debe ser una delicia. *** ||||| |-|-|-|-| *** ||| |-|-| *** Apenas ingresé al interior de la cafetería, una dependiente me atendió con notable amabilidad. Tuve la fortuna de que también me atendiese el dueño del local cuando percibió mi rostro de deleite al contemplar cada detalle del diseño y decorado. *** *** ||||| |-|-|-|-| *** |||| |-|-|-| *** El dueño, un señor canadiense que reside en Cuba, me explica que también dirige un local similar en su país, Canadá.

Me comenta sobre las dos motocicletas y cómo han dejado de funcionar por haber sido afectadas durante un ciclón hace varios años. Igual me parece un toque original que estas dos joyas de la carretera se muestren al público mientras disfrutan del café y otras ofertas.

Pues luego de la charla y el recorrido por todo el sitio, pido un café y me lo sirven con una sonrisa que se agradece a toda hora.

A la vista, el café se ofrece atractivo. Me centro el aroma, suspiro, sonrío y me dispongo a beber el primer sorbo.

De primer impacto, ya me percaté de que el sabor no era precisamente coherente con lo que esperaba, un café expreso bien fuerte.

No diré mucho, solo les muestro cómo quedó el café luego de unos instantes, cuando la espuma desapareció. Vean cómo se percibe que para nada es un café fuerte. Supongo que el señor canadiense debe aprender un poco más sobre el café expreso al que estamos acostumbrados los cubanos.

*** *** De cualquier manera, la amabilidad y calidad del servicio por parte de los trabajadores y del dueño, ameritaban que uno no se dejara afectar por la inesperada consistencia del café. Decidí disfrutarlo igual, a pesar de lo raro de todo. Sí, raro porque no me lo esperaba para nada, mucho más cuando me ofrecieron la cuenta y comprobé era el café más caro y con peor sabor que he tomado en mi ciudad.

Por fortuna luego descubrí otro sitio, donde por cierto, el café también tiene el mismo sobrevalor, pero cuya calidad sí es meritoria de disfrute pleno. De ello, les contaré la próxima semana. Ahora, espero se deleiten con este recorrido que les comparto y les pido, como siempre, que ¡no dejen de sonreír!
