Hi Steemers!
I'm Miranda, a 19 year old college student from Seattle currently residing in Wellesley, MA. Right now I am ambitiously aiming to double major in Computer Science and Electronic/Experimental music. I am passionate about music, social justice, technology, and trashy TV.
It Me!
School Stuff
I attend Wellesley College in the grossly affluent and extremely white town of Wellesley, MA. I already covered what I'm studying in school, but I am involved in many things outside of my classes.
My greatest commitment outside of academics is studying guitar. I take lessons in jazz/blues guitar. In the upcoming semester I am joining an ensemble which I am psyched about!
I am also involved in our college radio station, WZLY 91.5. This school year I will a position on the Executive Board of the station working as the Music Director (I'm so psyched about this).
My other main extracurricular committment is not music related. I am a member of Wellesley's club hoockey team. I play defensive wing. I had never touched a hockey stick until about a year ago but I've found it to be super fun/a great stress reliever. I'll share more about my foray into hockey later.
Music Stuff
My main passion in life is playing, listening to, and learning about music. I am a music junkie (read nerd). I mainly listen to punk, indie, and hip hop/rap, but I'll basically listen to anything that isn't bro country - bro country being current country music that is misogynist and gross (maybe I'll do a whole post on my definition of bro country). I am in a Seattle based femme-punk band called Hardly Boys. We recently released an EP and just last week went on our first tour down the west coast.
There's so much more!
This is a little slice of my life and who I am, but I have so much more to share! In the coming weeks I intend to talk more about who I am and what I'm passionate about.
Some things I plan to write about include:
- How to start a band with out killing your friends
- How to have a successful tinder profile w/o getting murdered
- Tech Bros
- Moving across the country
- The beauty and insanity of Twin Peaks
- Giving and getting stick and pokes
