It's not everyday that as you leave on a game drive that you bump into a pride of lions, who all walk around your vehicle as you sit there, with your guests, trying to get all the photos you can. But today was that day. Spending that much time with these monstrous felines really does help one to understand why they are the King of the Jungle! Weighing in at around 200kg (the males), it awakens a primal sense of survival as he strolls by your door, and looks you in the eye without flinching, and you wonder if this is the moment it all goes pear shaped. But it didn't. And it never has! And as long as we follow the 'rules' nature has laid down, then we'll all be ok. But it's exciting, it's addictive, and once you've experienced it, there's not much that can bring that kind of excitement.
Nature, wildlife. It's a beautiful, wondrous thing, and I am lucky enough to be a part of it. Long may it continue.
