Our Story
Scott and I originally dated briefly about 30 years ago and about 5 years ago, we reconnected through the powers of social media. Each of us having 2 grown children, we knew that we were given a gift of the ability to start something new in not just our relationship but a new way of life. We instantly realized that we had very similar interests in wanting to get away from the rat race of modern life.

What motivates us?

My father was a firefighter and died very young (age 54) of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma which at the time was linked to a grass fire that was previously sprayed with an herbicide. I was 24 at the time with two young children. This is the basis of my beliefs in not only healthy living by eating organic foods and limiting my exposure to pesticides/herbicides but also the mistrust in the Government to protect us. You see, my father's case was proven in a court of law that the herbicide which was sprayed on the fields on the fire he fought 20 years earlier was directly linked as the cause of his Non-Hodgkins. He won his case against the city shortly before his death in 1993. So, why then are these same herbicides being used today? This mistrust I feel is towards our American companies and the greed that drives them! This has fueled my desire to become more self-sustainable in growing all of our own food ( or as much as possible) in addition to raising our own animals for meat, eggs, and fat. We want to do as much as we possibly can and grow old together in a very healthy way. We not only want to raise our own food but gather our own wood, make everything we can ourselves including our own products which we put on our skin in which absorbs directly into our bloodstream.

Our Dream Property
We knew our dream property would consist of at least 5 acres on a river, at least a 2 bedroom home, and a shop. We knew that we were not ready to go completely off grid so wanted the ability to connect to power if possible but wanted wood heat to keep us warm. Another criteria was to be in the mountains so we looked at a widespread area from Idaho to Washington to Montana. After about 3 years of looking, it was our time! We found it and boy did we strike gold!
We purchased in the fall of 2016 and are moving in the summer of 2017 after we got married on the beautiful California Coast.
