Elon Musk is known for his revolutionary ideas to change the world. Sometimes they seem impossible but we do know that he is a man of dedication and gives his best to everything.
He initially gave the idea of Global Internet by primarily using satellites and it could provide to be able to use internet even in remote and distant areas.
SpaceX has already deployed 50% satellites for this purpose. This program is called Starlink satellites, I know this must give you some idea of Skynet ;). All the Starlink satellites are estimated to be weigh around 220 Kilograms.
Elon said, for minimal coverage they need 400 satellites and for moderate coverage 800 would be required. This dream of global internet is going to start soon and it will definitely change the shape of internet for everyone and maybe there will be no more issue of undersea fibre optic cable because we'll be facing more great ones in space now in future.
