🏙️ Urban Photo Walk with Fotocalle Santiago | Caminata Fotográfica Urbana con Fotocalle Santiago

Hello everyone! Today’s post is a bit different — this time, I’m sharing an urban photography experience I had in Santiago de Chile, where I joined a photo walk organized by the Fotocalle club.

¡Hola a todos! El post de hoy es un poco diferente — esta vez les comparto una experiencia de fotografía urbana que viví en Santiago de Chile, donde participé en una caminata fotográfica organizada por el club Fotocalle.

We were invited to meet at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center. From there, we began walking toward the Museo de las Artes, but eventually detoured and finished near the Universidad de Chile metro station.

Fuimos invitados a reunirnos en el Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral. Desde ahí comenzamos a caminar hacia el Museo de las Artes, pero eventualmente tomamos otro rumbo y terminamos cerca de la estación de metro Universidad de Chile.

It was about two hours of walking and shooting around the city — I mostly focused on photographing buildings, urban details, and a few candid moments of people living life in Santiago.

Fueron aproximadamente dos horas de caminata y fotografía por la ciudad — yo me dediqué sobre todo a fotografiar edificios, detalles urbanos y algunos momentos espontáneos de personas haciendo vida en Santiago.

That day started a bit chaotic for me — I had no credit on my metro card and couldn’t find a place to recharge since it was a Sunday. Thankfully, someone from the photo group offered a ride and picked me up near my metro stop, which saved the day!

Ese día empezó algo caótico para mí — no tenía saldo en la tarjeta del metro y no encontraba dónde recargar, ya que era domingo. Por suerte, alguien del grupo de fotógrafos ofreció llevar a quien viviera cerca, y me pasó a buscar cerca de mi estación. ¡Me salvó el día!

We chatted about photography during the ride, and once we arrived, there were already about six people waiting. In total, we were eight photographers ready to explore Santiago with our cameras.

Conversamos sobre fotografía durante el trayecto, y al llegar ya había unas seis personas esperando. En total éramos ocho fotógrafos listos para recorrer Santiago con nuestras cámaras.

For this session I used my trusted Canon M50 with the 15-45mm kit lens. Though it’s not a bright lens and doesn’t offer much bokeh, it’s perfect for urban and documentary-style photography. The built-in zoom allows me to get closer to the action without physically moving in.

Para esta sesión utilicé mi confiable Canon M50 con el lente de kit 15-45mm. Aunque no es un lente luminoso ni ofrece mucho bokeh, es perfecto para fotografía urbana y estilo documental. El zoom incorporado me permite acercarme a la acción sin moverme físicamente.

I also added a Black Mist filter, which softens the highlights and gives a dreamy, cinematic glow to lights and reflections. It was my way of adding something artistic to the images, since I wasn’t relying on a shallow depth of field this time.

También le agregué un filtro Black Mist, que suaviza las altas luces y da un resplandor cinematográfico a las luces y reflejos. Fue mi manera de añadir algo artístico a las imágenes, ya que esta vez no contaba con una profundidad de campo muy marcada.

This photo walk has been my favorite photography event so far. It was a refreshing and spontaneous way to explore the city and capture moments that we often overlook. Here are the photos I captured during the experience — hope you enjoy them!
