A MOVE WITH MORE HARM THAN GOOD 🤏⬆️

I think it’s high time we stand our ground in putting so many unhealthy and health damaging products like alcoholic drinks and cigarettes, especially cigarettes to permanent stop 🛑if not completely abolished. Banning and putting so many health damaging products to permanent stop has been an ongoing struggle for as many years as i can remember, the problem over here doesn’t really lay with the governments who sanctioned the availability and consumption of such health damaging products, even when they clearly know how harmful and dangerous it can be when it is consumed in excess…
Humans can be very unpredictable when it comes to the consumption of these products, take my people from this side of the world as a practical example of this whole issue of excessive intake of health damaging products like alcoholic drinks and cigarettes, let’s leave out the sugar aspects for now since that is not a really deep concern compared to the likes of products like alcoholic drinks and cigarettes…
I don’t know why we tend to abuse things in this part of the world, when it comes to alcoholic drink consumption, the rate at which people abuse it especially when going through one or two tough times is very high. Alcoholic drinks are taken both in happiness and sadness, and the population of people who consume it in high quantities and sometimes in excess are very high. Only few people take it in moderation, while we have some people who don’t even consume anything alcoholic at all, that is to tell you how disciplined some people can be when it comes to the kind of things they consume, especially alcohols…
Cigarettes are actually way worse than this though. When it comes to cigarettes, these people don’t hesitate to smoke themselves to death all in the name of fun and entertainment, smoking is now a culture they practice daily, and now I don’t think it would be easy to completely abolish. Abolishing it would mean bad business for the product companies and it would also affect the consumers both positively and negatively. It would have been better if many of these people consume these products in moderation, at least the damage done would be minimal but no they are a fan and extreme lover of excessiveness…
If the government were to impose hefty taxes on these products, I don’t think the imposition of high taxes on these products would actually have any positive impact, it would instead have a negative impact on not just the people but to also the companies producing them on the long run…
If these products are made expensive, i know many people won’t be able to afford more of it again at that moment, but have we thought about what would happen to the addicts if these products aren’t readily accessible and available to them anymore. Their inability to purchase these products at will would actually cause more harm than good to not just them but to the people around them. They will become a threat and a source of nuisance to their families and to the society at large…
When hefty taxes are imposed on these products and because of this these products become extremely expensive for their consumers to buy, this will actually lead to another societal problem, there will be cases of robbery, assaults and crimes of different sorts in the neighborhood, all these just to gather enough money to purchase more of these products at will. Now you see and understand why the imposition of hefty taxes on these products would do more harm than good to both the society and the consumers…
In summary, I know this hefty tax imposition will reduce the level of people’s intake as not many would be able to purchase these products at will, but with time things would change and the addicts of these products would have no other choice than to get shady and dirty to buy these products at anytime their body demands for it…
In conclusion, i think we need to take a second thought on this idea before taking another step forward, and this is because i think this idea will do more harm than good to not just the people but to the country at large…
