There are many facets to Primaudia Studios and in this post i'm going to tbreak them all down, talk about my influences and describe what my music is all about.
I started producing music in 2019 when a friend of mine showed me Reason 4 and I was completely blown away and overwhelmed at the same time that, not only could you use a computer to make music, but that there was a vast world available to aid up and coming independent artists.
At the time I didnt own a PC but I did have an android phone so I downloaded an app called Caustic 3, a mini beatmaking tool.
At first I didnt have the faintest idea where to start but thankfully tutorials were available and so eventually managed to lay down some notes and select some instruments.
I was (and still are) a huge fan of guitars so I started tweaking different dials until i created a sound that was suitably distorted enough to pass for a crude synth guitar.
I made my first album using that app, certainly not good work by any standard but it got me started down the road and before long I finally bought a PC and a copy of Reason 10.
This was where the fun really started. And became the birth of Primaudia Record.
Primaudia Record
Primauda means primitive audio. I decided that would be an apt name because I was new to the game and what I was making was very crude in terms of sound quality but the songs themselves were very dynamic with a myriad of elements.
This is my main project and it dabbles in many different styles. I've produced avante garde neo orchestral, hardcore rave music, rock and metal, futuristic piano pieces, dark synthwave and many more. The main theme here is sonic discovery, always pushing the boundaries of sound design and electronic music composition.
My influences for this project are vast but my absolute No.1 is John Carpenter who you may know for his most famous composition, the Halloween theme song.
The music is typically driven by hard hitting drums, ranging from hard techno four on the floor kick patterns to 80's powerballad rock kits. However there are exceptions to this and i'll share one of them with you now, this is my favourite piece.
Project Serpentine
I devised this project to indulge my darkest sound design ideas. The intent is to push the listeners imagination, to create worlds of sound utterly bereft of all the comforts we take for granted. I'm a big advocate for climate control and when I make this music i'm imagining what the end of days would feel like, a soundtrack for the apocalypse. Behind the keyboard i'm taking the role of planet Earth, angry, betrayed and full of wrath, ready to unleash unspeakable torments in the name of retribution. H.P.Lovecraft is a strong influence for these productions as is Dante's Inferno from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy trilogy. Imagining the descent through the nine circles of hell provides ample concept material and a lot of my artwork it based on it.
Star Veiled Mystic
If Project Serpentine is black then Star Veiled Mystic is white, the Ying to the Yang, Night and Day. Here I use the same sound design techniques as I do with Project Serpentine yet the intent of this project is to fill the listener with warmth, tranquility and a universal feeling of oneness.
As a sound designer and artist it's important to me that can paint my canvas with any combination of colours. Star Veiled Mystic is the home for my Pacific blues, Uranus greens, elliptical galaxy yellows and Wisteria purples.
I've taken the time to compile my various works across all my projects within this link.
