Wishing all my dear friends a very beautiful and blessed day! So, how have you all been? I’ve been a little busy these days since the festive season still hasn’t quite ended yet.
Sri Lankan traditional sweets are a treasured part of our culinary heritage. Often prepared during festivals, family gatherings, and special occasions, these treats are made using simple and natural ingredients like rice flour, coconut, jaggery, and spices. These sweet delicacies not only delight the taste buds but also create a deep connection to culture and memory.
Before preparing such a beloved traditional recipe, let us take a moment to appreciate the timeless magic that these dishes bring to our tables and our hearts. Now, let’s see how to prepare this special sweet treat!

Materials Used.

250g fried rice flour..
Grated Coconut.
100g Grated jaggery.
2 Tablespoon of Kitul honey or coconut honey.
A little salt to taste.
Some hot water.
1 teaspoon of Crushed cumin, cardamom, and clove powder

The cooking process as follows.

First, take a mixing bowl and add roasted rice flour, scraped coconut, salt to taste, roasted fennel seeds, cardamom, cloves, and grated jaggery. Gradually add hot water and mix well until it forms a soft dough.
Now take portions from the prepared dough and shape them into small, thin discs as shown below.
Now use your fingers to gently shape the flattened sweets into their final form.
Now take a steamer, place a piece of banana leaf inside the steamer tray, arrange the shaped biscuits on top, and steam them for about 10 minutes before removing from the heat.
There is a unique joy in creating traditional Sri Lankan sweets at home – a delightful blend of aroma, warmth, and the satisfaction of preserving a heritage passed down through generations. Whether you prepare them for the New Year, a simple family tea time, or just to enjoy a sweet treat, this recipe brings comfort and celebration in every bite. Let us keep these traditions alive. That’s all from me for today – wishing you all a wonderful day ahead!
